    Position Summary

    The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting and monitoring field operations to ensure work is completed in accordance with project plans, specifications, company standards, and applicable regulations. This position works closely with Superintendents, Foremen, and Project Managers to identify deficiencies, verify corrective actions, and promote consistent quality across all phases of construction.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Perform routine field inspections on underground utility construction projects including water, sewer, storm drain, and related civil work.
    • Verify work is installed according to project plans, specifications, and company quality standards.
    • Document inspections, deficiencies, and corrective actions using reports, photos, and field notes.
    • Communicate findings with Superintendents, Foremen, and Project Management to ensure timely resolution of quality issues.
    • Verify materials, equipment, and installation methods meet project requirements.
    • Assist in preparing projects for municipal inspections, testing, and owner acceptance.
    • Monitor workmanship to promote consistency and reduce rework.
    • Maintain organized inspection records and daily documentation.
    • Identify potential quality concerns before they impact project schedules or budgets.
    • Support a culture of continuous improvement by providing constructive feedback to field personnel.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 3 years of experience in underground utility construction or heavy civil construction.
    • Working knowledge of water, sanitary sewer, storm drain, and earthwork construction.
    • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and utility profiles.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple project teams.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office and mobile field reporting applications.
    • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to walk uneven terrain and active construction sites daily.
    • Frequently stand, walk, climb, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
    • Ability to safely access active construction work areas.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with municipal utility inspections.
    • Knowledge of ASTM, AWWA, and local utility construction standards.
    • Experience using GPS, tablets, or electronic inspection software.
    • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
