Boyer Commercial Construction is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Control (QC) Specialist to ensure our projects consistently meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. This role plays a critical part in verifying that all construction activities adhere to project specifications, technical requirements, and industry regulations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, knowledgeable about commercial construction, and skilled at collaborating with diverse teams in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Inspections & Oversight
- Conduct daily on-site inspections to ensure construction progress aligns with blueprints, specifications, and applicable building codes.
- Perform and document 3-phase inspections per project requirements.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare clear, detailed daily QC reports and maintain accurate inspection and testing records.
- Manage and track the project deficiency (punch) list until completion.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Verify that all work complies with safety guidelines, structural standards, and contractual obligations.
- Review and validate submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs for accuracy prior to field execution.
Material Verification & Testing
- Coordinate and oversee on-site testing for materials such as concrete, structural steel, soils, waterproofing systems, and more.
Problem-Solving & Corrective Action
- Identify and document defects or nonconformities, conduct root cause analysis, and work closely with project managers to implement corrective measures.
Collaboration & Communication
- Serve as the main quality control liaison among field personnel, subcontractors, and owner representatives.
- Communicate clearly and professionally to uphold project quality expectations.
Qualifications & Skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent field experience).
Experience
- Prior experience in commercial construction, specifically in quality control, inspections, or field engineering.
Certifications (Preferred)
- ACI, ICC, ASQ, or similar certifications relevant to construction quality assurance.
Technical Skills
- Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and building codes.
- Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore), and MS Office Suite.
Knowledge & Competencies
- Solid understanding of ASTM standards, OSHA safety requirements, and general quality management practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to enforce quality expectations professionally.
