Job Summary - Quality Control Supervisor - Concrete Manufacturing Plant
The Quality Control Supervisor will oversee all quality control operations within the manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with internal procedures, project specifications, and relevant industry standards, while managing a team of inspectors and supporting continuous quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise, mentor, and support all Quality Control Inspectors.
Ensure full compliance with PCI manuals, state guidelines, inspection agency requirements, and customer specifications.
Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement and teamwork.
Ensure all products are inspected before and after production according to shop drawings.
Conduct ongoing training to enhance inspector performance and consistency.
Oversee mix design creation, testing, and optimization for quality and cost efficiency.
Monitor accurate product tagging and marking procedures.
Collaborate with estimating, engineering, production, and state agencies to resolve quality issues.
Document pre-pour discrepancies and communicate them to production in a timely manner.
Perform and document post-pour inspections promptly.
Supervise batching operations for consistent concrete quality.
Participate in weekly production and quality meetings.
Prepare capital expenditure requests with justifications.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in reading and interpreting shop drawings and construction documents.
Solid understanding of prestressed and architectural precast concrete.
Ability to stay organized and focused in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Mechanically inclined with a strong attention to detail.
Self-driven with the ability to work independently and lead a team.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in prestressed concrete quality control
High school diploma or equivalent
Proficient in blueprint and specification reading
Preferred Certifications:
PCI Level I, II, or III
ACI Certification
OSHA 10 or 30-Hour
Other relevant industry certifications
Physical & Work Requirements:
Ability to manage stressful situations and maintain sound judgment
Willingness to work extended hours and occasional weekends when needed
Must be able to travel to company-sponsored events and seminars
