    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

    This position reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager at the location. The Quality Control Technician maintains a close working relationship with production, purchasing, formulations and customer service teams.

    PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE:

    Under the supervision of the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Control Technician is responsible for the Furst-McNess quality and food safety program and all applicable standards for each assigned facility. The Quality Control Technician will be a primary trained preventative control qualified individual (PCQI) for that site(s). They will lead through actions and principles all animal food hygiene and animal food safety programs of the facility. The Quality Control Technician will strive to make a difference at the Furst-McNess Company and serve as a champion for the McNess core value of “Quality” by monitoring and enforcing all aspects of the location's quality program.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for all elements of FDA food safety programs at each location. Implementation and maintenance of the current good manufacturing practices (cGMP's) at each site(s) in accordance with applicable FDA regulations including 21 CF 507 and 21 CFR 225.

    o Direct oversight of the following functions:

    Product Release

    • Reviewing Batch and Production Records.
    • Reviewing Flushing and Sequencing Records to confirm proper medication sequencing in accordance with Furst-McNess developed procedures.
    • PC001 Verification of Drug Addition and Documentation
    • PC001 Formula Verification
    • Daily Drug Reconciliation

    Customer Complaint Process

    • Including customer complaint investigation, communication with all applicable stakeholders, documentation of findings and corrective actions as required

    Medication procurement and reconciliation in accordance with both 21 CFR 225 and internal procedures

    Inventory/Rework Control Verification

    Product Hold Investigation

    Scheduled Sampling & Testing to labs

    Operation SOPS / Facility specific food safety, quality and safety SOPs

    Quality / Food Safety Monthly walkthrough

    Safety Monthly Walkthrough

    Identifying, isolating, documenting, and communicating any product deviations while initiating product holds and engaging the location Quality Assurance Manager as needed.

    Assist with development of finished product and component receiving inspection procedures and requirements.

    Become certified as the PCQI (preventative control qualified individual) within six months of starting employment, if not already certified.

    As part of the QC/Safety team, will conduct routine sanitation checks, ensuring that HACCP/OSHA regulations are strictly monitored and enforced.

    Aid and assist in any regulatory and certification inspections and audits performed by agencies.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Be able to succeed within and adhere to the culture of the Furst-McNess Company.

    • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.

    • Ability to read, write and speak English.

    • Education equivalent to high school diploma.

    • Have or willing to receive training within the first 6 months to become a PCQI (preventative control qualified individual).

    • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills to maintain, foster, and grow strong working relationships inside the scope of the role and beyond.

    • Good communication skills, both oral and written, and is capable of utilizing these skills within all levels of the Company as well as externally.

    • Ability to communicate through use of telephone and email.

    • Good reasoning ability to solve a wide range of business problems.

    • Ability to understand and utilize internet server and network report to conduct business.

    • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office products along with other assigned software.

    • Ability to work days or hours that the business requires.

    • Ability to learn and comply with GMP and regulatory requirements imposed on manufacturing facilities by the FDA, OSHA and EPA in regard to manufacturing of food and drug products.

    • Ability to provide outstanding customer service to all associates and management staff, showing a sense of urgency relative to solving problems, performing assigned tasks, employee concerns, etc.

    • Ability to effectively organize work schedules and manage multiple assignments by utilizing time management skills to ensure day-to-day assignments and special projects are completed within guidelines agreed upon.

    • Ability to work as an effective team member within the plant and company, as a whole. Willingness to pitch in and do work that may not be a specific part of the job description for the overall good of the department and company.
