Quality Engineer
Summary
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support quality assurance operations within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for contract review, corrective action investigations, audit support, inspection review, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with customer, ASME, and military quality standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform quality assurance duties following established procedures and work instructions
- Review customer purchase order requirements and develop detailed quality action plans
- Coordinate and support welding, NDT, dimensional inspection, and heat treatment requirements
- Review and disposition material rejection reports
- Analyze inspection processes and recommend equipment or process improvements to enhance quality and productivity
- Review calibration records for compliance and investigate gauge deviations
- Conduct internal and external audits to ASME and military compliance standards
- Review and approve dimensional inspection records for accuracy and acceptability
- Perform root cause analysis using corrective action methodologies such as 5 Why and Ishikawa diagrams
- Implement preventative actions and mistake-proofing initiatives
- Develop and maintain quality requirements for subcontracted services
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and inspection teams to resolve quality concerns
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field preferred
- 5–7 years of quality engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
- Experience performing contract review on complex technical documentation and customer requirements
- Familiarity with corrective action investigations and root cause analysis methodologies
- Knowledge of nondestructive testing (NDT), welding processes, ASME codes, and military standards preferred
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
