Quality Engineer – Electric Motors
Are you passionate about driving quality excellence in aerospace and defense manufacturing? We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join our growing Chaska, MN facility. In this hands-on, impactful role, you will play a key part in ensuring the quality of advanced electric motor production, supporting product and program quality, supplier compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
About the Role
As a Quality Engineer, you will support both internal and supplier quality programs, lead root cause analysis efforts, and ensure compliance with aerospace standards such as AS9100. You will serve as the quality expert for motor programs and work cross-functionally with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Production teams to improve processes and exceed customer expectations.
In the short term, you will also perform inspection activities—including receiving, in-process, and final inspections—contributing directly to product quality during operational ramp-up.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain quality procedures for motor components and assemblies
Lead and support AS9100 and ISO 9001 compliance initiatives
Drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement
Represent Quality in customer programs, audits, and FAI reviews
Perform inspection of components and assemblies as needed
Utilize quality tools (SPC, PFMEA, MSA) to reduce variability and improve outcomes
Support data collection and analysis for quality and operational metrics
Collaborate across departments to meet Quality and Delivery goals
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field)
4+ years of experience in a quality-related role (new graduates with relevant experience may be considered)
Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, and aerospace/defense quality standards
Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electronic drawings and specifications
Strong skills in data analysis, problem-solving, and technical writing
U.S. Citizenship required (eligibility to obtain security clearance)
Preferred/Bonus Skills
Knowledge of special processes (soldering, crimping, NDT, surface treatments)
Experience with quality inspection equipment and tools
Hands-on experience with corrective/preventive action systems (SCARs, CAPAs)
Schedule & Travel
Full-time: Monday–Thursday (9 hrs/day), Friday (4 hrs)
Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required
Travel: Less than 10%
Work Environment
Split between office and manufacturing floor
Requires use of safety equipment and ability to lift/move items up to 25 lbs
Vision screening required

Pay Range
$110,000 - $130,000/year
Additional Information
Many contracts require proof of U.S. citizenship or an export license. Employment is contingent upon providing such proof to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or government contracts.
Compensation is determined based on job-related knowledge and skills, experience, and internal consistency.
