Quality Engineer II (Opening to hiring at the Quality Engineer III level)
Job Description
In this role, you will support holistic Quality Engineering efforts for multiple small to midsize projects or releases, for both convention and emerging methodologies. As a primary focus, you will create test plans include test strategies, timelines, a scientific approach to estimates, demand, capacity, utilization plans and test environment planning and work with an identified team of full-time employees and consultant staff to carry out the test plans. You will also be responsible for providing the design, development, maintenance and execution of test plans, test scenarios, test cases and test scripts focused on the health of software quality engineering and managing risk and issues. In addition, you will understand / execute automation and performance testing options available to optimize the quality engineering effort. And you will ensure adherence to processes and methodologies within projects and provide guidance to team members to ensure delivery commitments are met.

Additional Information
a. Responsible for defining test plans in support of small-mid scale projects and/or software releases. Including establishing a staffing plan, cost estimates, and key delivery dates.
b. Partner with project teams to develop and gain consensus regarding quality engineering support, and ensure standard processes meet project requirements; including directing the defect management process and implementing test status reporting processes. Will represent the Quality Engineering team to resolve issues and manage overall project schedules. Work closely with project stakeholders and other appropriate internal stakeholders to ensure that quality is effectively executed throughout the project.
c. Mentor and coach assigned project Quality Engineer I resources in the estimating, planning, designing and execution of testing for IT projects or initiatives. Review testing plans and other documentation and provide input as appropriate.
d. Proactively monitor calendar of projects, review estimates and timelines to coordinate any contentions. Work closely with project stakeholders to ensure software quality stays on track for assigned projects and initiatives and report on status, including reporting on issues that may impact timelines or a successful delivery.
e. Work with the project team in the review of documented requirements to ensure testability, maintainability, accuracy and consistency. Document or lead the documentation of test coverage and traceability to requirements. Review quality of test scripts against defined standards.
f. Collaborate within the department to provide input, options and feedback for test environment management.
g. Responsible to create / execute the automation / performance strategy in alignment to the overall test strategy and execution of the strategy.
h. Look for opportunities to incorporate test automation for assigned projects or releases; including tooling / solution accelerators to improve effectiveness and efficiency, managing and driving to completion the full body of work / scope. Look to test code components in non – conventional approaches, exploring shift–left strategy.
i. Support and adhere to Wellmark software development lifecycle (SDLC), operational procedures and development and security standards by following required process.
j. Support Quality Engineering Services in various transformational efforts aligned to the department/Technology strategy.
k. Other duties as assigned.

Remote Eligible: You will have the flexibility to work where you are most productive. This position is eligible to work fully remote. Depending on your location, you may still have the option to come into a Wellmark office if you wish to. Your leader may ask you to come into the office occasionally for specific meetings or other ‘moments that matter’ as well.
