    Job Summary:

    The Quality Engineer position is responsible for supporting manufacturing process and product quality by adhering to MXS standards and procedures to help ensure compliance to drawings and specifications. This position requires the employee to perform a wide variety of duties including, but not limited to, the following:

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Takes appropriate actions on nonconforming product and customer complaints

    • Determine and track departmental goals

    • Performs or arranges for the performance of internal audits of the quality management system at prescribed intervals

    • Ownership of the Quality Management System and maintains compliance with ISO9001 standards

    • Performs root cause analysis of nonconforming products and conducts studies to implement improvements in products

    • Creation of documentation of quality processes, procedures, and work instructions.

    • Maintains equipment calibration and supporting record keeping to ensure equipment is calibrated in accordance with appropriate schedules

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and supply chain, to identify and resolve quality issues in a timely manner.

    • Assists the Quality Manager with the transition from an inspection-based Quality Control department to an audit-based Quality Assurance department through elimination of unnecessary inspections, coordination with operations on driving down defects, mistake proofing, and implementing process controls and process audits.

    • Ownership and improvement of the internal and external Non-Conformance Reporting systems.

    Qualifications:

    • 1-3 years of relevant experience in manufacturing or similar setting

    • Experience with leading and implementing 5S initiatives

    • Experience with RCA Tools (8D, 5Why, CAPA, fishbone) and facilitation and training of using tools

    • Experience with ISO9001 and Quality Management Systems

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a process and results oriented mindset

    Education:

    · Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field.

    · Certification as a CQE or Lean Six Sigma Green/ Black belt is a plus but not required.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Ability to stand; sit; walk; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

    Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

    Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate testing instruments, tools, computers and various pieces of office equipment.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights. The noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used as necessary
