    Quality Engineer – Food Manufacturing

    Hillsborough Area, NC
    $85,000–$100,000 + 6% discretionary bonus

    A growing food manufacturer in the Hillsborough area is hiring a Quality Engineer to provide hands-on quality leadership across production, packaging and sanitation operations.

    This is a floor-focused role for someone who can identify quality issues, work effectively with Production and help maintain strong food-safety and product-quality standards. It could be a fit for a current Quality Engineer or someone coming from a strong QA Lead, Supervisor or Specialist background.

    Schedule flexibility is an asset as the plant runs 24/7.

     

    What You’ll Do

    • Serve as an on-shift quality resource for production and operational teams

    • Monitor GMPs, hygiene practices, process controls, CCPs and quality standards

    • Oversee in-process checks, finished-product testing and environmental monitoring

    • Conduct routine GMP, sanitation and process audits

    • Support the site Quality Management System and maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation

    • Investigate nonconformances, process deviations and product-quality issues

    • Assist with root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions

    • Train employees on GMP, hygiene, food safety and product-quality requirements

    • Work with Production, Sanitation, Maintenance, Engineering and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues and improve processes

     

    What We’re Looking For

    • 1–5 years of quality experience in food manufacturing or a related high-volume manufacturing environment

    • Working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP and food-safety requirements

    • Exposure to SQF, BRC or another GFSI-recognized certification system

    • Experience with investigations, root-cause analysis and CAPA

    • Familiarity with audits, quality documentation and Quality Management Systems

    • Bachelor’s degree in food science, food technology, chemistry, biology, engineering or a related field preferred

    • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification preferred but not required

    • Experience with packaging lines, sanitation processes or bakery manufacturing is helpful

    • Conversational Spanish is helpful but not required

     

    Compensation

    • Target salary of $85,000–$100,000, with flexibility for a particularly strong candidate

    • 6% discretionary bonus
