Quality Inspector @ Cranford, New Jersey (1099 Contractor)
Responsibilities:
Perform pre-shipment inspections of final, mass-produced industrial blades
Verify dimensional accuracy, tolerances, workmanship, packaging, labeling, and overall compliance with contractual and technical requirements
Assess production consistency and readiness for shipment
Identify, document, and communicate quality risks or deviations prior to shipment approval
Support corrective action discussions when quality issues are detected
Act as a quality-focused representative with a strong understanding of how manufacturing processes and final product quality are interconnected
Provide timely, detailed inspection reports with photographic evidence
High availability and flexible job scheduling
Ability to lift and move boxes and equipment as required during inspections (25lbs aprox)
Technical & Industry Experience:
4 years' experience as a Mechanical Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer / Industrial Engineer / Quality Engineer.
Quality Certifications like ISO 9001 / Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher preferred)
Proven experience performing pre-shipment inspections of mass-produced industrial products
Strong background in quality engineering and manufacturing processes
Extensive measuring experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and specialized measuring tools
Solid understanding of machining, heat treatment, surface finishing, and high-volume production environments
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, control plans, and quality standards
Strong analytical skills to identify, anticipate, and diagnose quality or process-related issues
Root cause analysis mindset; ability to go beyond measurements and assess process stability and product consistency
Ability to prepare clear, detailed inspection reports and photographic evidence
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel; reports typically required within 24 hours after job completion
High level of professionalism, autonomy, and sound judgment when working on-site
Flexibility in scheduling and availability for factory visits.
