Position Summary:
Mid-State is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Quality Inspector to support our commitment to producing parts and assemblies of the highest quality. This role is responsible for performing dimensional inspections, visual audits, and documentation reviews to ensure that all products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience with precision measuring tools, a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, and a passion for getting it right the first time.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect incoming materials, in-process production, and final products for conformance to specifications.
Use precision measurement instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, etc.) to verify dimensions.
Read and interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
Perform first-article inspections, final inspections, and in-process audits.
Accurately document inspection results and create quality reports.
Identify nonconformances, initiate nonconformance reports (NCRs), and communicate findings clearly to production staff.
Assist in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action initiatives.
Maintain calibration of inspection tools and equipment.
Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety guidelines, and quality standards.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in quality inspection in a manufacturing environment.
Strong working knowledge of precision measuring equipment and inspection techniques.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles.
Excellent attention to detail and recordkeeping abilities.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Proficient with basic computer software (Microsoft Office; familiarity with ERP systems is a plus).
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing Technology, or related field preferred.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with CMM operation/programming (Coordinate Measuring Machine).
ISO 9001 quality system knowledge.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
