    Position Summary:

    The Quality Lab Technician is responsible for the routine and non-complex sampling, testing, measuring, and recording of quality results to produce reliable and precise data to ensure optimal quality and compliance with internal quality requirements and customer standards.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned.

    • Perform routine and non-routine tests and analyses using the appropriate technical equipment and instruments.

    • Collect or receive, as well as process, product samples as scheduled or required to maintain delivery.

    • Calculate test results, enter, log, and report results using a computer for documentation and reporting.

    • Prepare and supervise experiments as a representative of the Quality Department when assigned.

    • Perform Quality control procedures and calibrate equipment as required.

    • Maintain equipment in proper working order and maintain good 5S for the work area.

    • Practice safe work habits, including complying with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations.

    • Collaborate with the Operations team on Quality Standards and Product Standards, and test results to meet or exceed Customer expectations.

    • Will communicate fully with their manager or Lead team members when issues or concerns arise in the scope of their duties.

    • Be flexible and capable when called upon to address quality issues or maintain operations based on circumstances beyond the normal scope of duties.

    • The position shall be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the equipment and area utilizing cleaning solutions, pressure washers, and other equipment to accomplish the task, meeting 5S and Preventive Maintenance requirements.

    • Performs other related duties as assigned by management or apparent.

    Experience and Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

    • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred

    • One year of related experience and/or training,

    • Experience with the Plastics Industry preferred.

    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office

    • Strong knowledge of manufacturing.

    • Good customer service skills to meet and exceed customer expectations; acts in a professional, courteous, and cooperative manner toward customers and co-workers; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.

    • Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed efficiently and safely.

    • Good follow-through and ability to adhere to work schedule and follow through on challenges as they arise.

    • The ability to adhere to Company policies and rules set forth; promotes the Company’s safety standards; does not take inappropriate risks.

    • Demonstrate good attendance with the ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays, as required.

    Work Environment and Physical Demands:

    The work environment will be a mix of office and plant floor responsibilities, with a heavy focus on the plant floor. The work environment is on the plant floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, and we do expect members to wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, while on the plant floor and other required areas.

    We have a 24/7 process operation. The work schedule for this position is dictated by the need to manage and react to issues on the shifts. The planned schedule for this position is:

    • Day Shift: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday, rotating days off, working every other weekend.

    • Night Shift: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday, rotating days off, working every other weekend.

    This position will require the following physical demands.

    • There will be moderate lifting - up to 50 pounds,

    • Continually required to: lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, stand for several hours at a time, talk, or hear, work near moving mechanical parts, exposure to extreme heat or cold (non-weather), thermal conditions may exceed outdoor air temperatures at times.

    • Frequently required to: lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, walk, required to utilize hand and finger dexterity, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl; exposure to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather)

    • Occasionally required to: lift and/or move 50 pounds, sit, work around fumes, airborne particles (below permissible exposure limits), work in high, precarious places, exposure to outside weather conditions, thermal conditions may exceed outdoor air temperatures at times.

    • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually loud to very loud at 85- 100 dB. Hearing protection is always required when on the plant floor.

    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    • Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used: may require the ability to operate a forklift, skid steer, mini excavator, and aerial work platforms (Scissor Lift and Boom Lift). The company will provide equipment operator training as required for the position.
