JOB SUMMARY We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quality Manager to lead and continuously improve the quality management system (QMS) at Engineered Custom Solutions. This position requires a hands-on leader who can operate effectively in both office and shop-floor environments.

The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of API Q1 and ISO 9001 standards and have practical experience in precision machining, welding, fabrication, and repair/maintenance of oil and gas drilling equipment. A strong background in subsea coatings such as Xylan, Sermagard, phosphate, and three-coat epoxy systems is highly desired.

In addition to overseeing QA/QC staff, the successful candidate will drive cultural change in how quality is perceived and implemented across the business. Prior experience working in and building quality systems for small, fast-growing companies is essential.

This role demands a self-starter with the leadership skills to design a pragmatic, streamlined quality system that upholds high standards without slowing down operations.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Quality System Management:

Develop, implement, and maintain the ECS Quality Management System in compliance with API Q1 and ISO 9001.

Lead quality audits, both internal and external.

Ensure documentation and processes are current, efficient, and compliant.

    QA/QC Oversight:

Supervise and mentor the QA/QC team to ensure robust inspection and testing procedures.

Set clear goals and KPIs for the team and ensure accountability.

    Manufacturing & Process Support:

Collaborate with production teams to integrate quality practices directly into machining, welding, coating, and assembly processes.

Conduct in-process inspections and walk the floor regularly to address quality concerns.

    Coating & Material Expertise:

Oversee quality control procedures for subsea coatings (Xylan, Sermagard, phosphate, 3-coat epoxy).

Review coating specifications and validate compliance through documentation and inspection.

    Culture & Continuous Improvement:

Champion a proactive quality culture across departments.

Lead training and communication efforts to reframe quality as a business enabler.

Identify inefficiencies and drive process improvements that enhance quality and operational agility.

    Customer & Compliance Interface:

Address customer quality concerns with root cause analysis and corrective action plans.

Interface with certifying bodies and prepare for audits and renewals.

    QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 5 years of experience in oil and gas manufacturing.

Strong knowledge of API Q1 and ISO 9001 quality systems.

Experience with precision machining, welding, fabrication, and oilfield equipment repair.

Familiarity with subsea coatings including Xylan, Sermagard, phosphate, and 3-coat epoxy

Demonstrated ability to implement quality systems and improvement

Hands-on experience managing and mentoring QA/QC teams.

Proficient in quality documentation, audit preparation, and root cause analysis.

CWI certification and/or NACE Level 2 or 3 preferred, but not required.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field preferred, but not required.

    KEY COMPETENCIES

    Strong leadership and communication skills.

Comfortable on the shop floor and in customer meetings.

Strategic mindset with a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.

Detail-oriented with a practical approach to process design.

Proven track record in driving cultural change.

Ability to balance quality control with operational efficiency.

Passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
