    Summary: The Quality Manager oversees all aspects of the quality management system within a rubber manufacturing environment. This includes ensuring compliance with customer requirements, industry standards (such as IATF 16949), and internal quality objectives. The role focuses on leading the quality team, driving continuous improvement, managing audits, and ensuring consistent product performance and reliability.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Quality System Management: Maintain and improve the company’s quality management system (QMS) in compliance with applicable standards (IATF 16949, etc.).

    Leadership: Supervise and mentor the quality team, including inspectors, technicians, and engineers. Foster a culture of accountability and quality ownership throughout the facility.

    Customer Quality: Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality concerns. Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) for internal and external issues.

    Product & Process Control: Oversee inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process parts, and finished goods. Ensure appropriate control plans, work instructions, and process audits are followed.

    APQP & PPAP: Manage quality planning for new product launches, including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Process Flow Diagrams, FMEAs, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation.

    Nonconformance & CAPA: Monitor nonconforming materials and lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Using data-driven methods, drive continual improvement efforts across departments.

    Internal & External Audits: Plan and lead internal audits; coordinate third-party and customer audits. Ensure timely closure of audit findings and implementation of systemic improvements.

    Supplier Quality: Evaluate and monitor supplier performance. Support incoming inspection and supplier corrective actions when necessary.

    KPIs & Reporting: Track and report on key quality metrics (scrap, rework, customer complaints, DPPM). Present findings to leadership and develop action plans for improvement.

    Qualification Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality Management, or related field

    5+ years of quality management experience in a manufacturing environment (rubber/plastics/automotive preferred)

    Strong understanding of rubber processing (e.g., molding, extrusion, compounding)

    Expertise in quality tools and standards: IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC

    Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality software tools (ERP, QMS platforms, Minitab a plus)

    Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma certification preferred

    Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
