LEARN & EARN Looking to earn a little extra cash, expand your professional learning, and make a difference in online learning for students? The QM-Certified K-12 Course Reviewer Cohort is the answer! We’re looking for online teachers or course developers to serve in an Independent Contractor role as K-12 Course Reviewers.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE? K-12 personnel who have taught or developed at least one online course within the past 18 months.

THE PATHWAY Members of the upcoming cohorts will participate in two online courses that will challenge you to make positive changes in the digital learning space. Courses are delivered in three week increments, which is enough time to be flexible enough to fit within your hectic schedule, and allow you to grow with like-minded colleagues.

EXPAND YOUR PLN AND GROW AS AN EDUCATOR Taking the pathway courses as part of a cohort will allow you to build strong and lasting connections with educators from all over the world who are just as passionate about online learning as you. You’ll learn with and from peers as you apply the concepts within the courses to your own unique situations.

HELP IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF ONLINE COURSES As part of a cohort, the learning doesn’t stop once you complete the course pathway. Instead, it leads to even more continuous growth when you become a QM-Certified K-12 Course Reviewer. This role allows you to serve on course review teams where you can give back to the K-12 online learning community by providing helpful recommendations for course improvement leading to student success. Serving on official QM-Managed Course Review Teams will allow you to collaborate with other educators who are making a difference in the online learning sphere. As a QM-Certified Course Reviewer, you’ll have the opportunity to take a stipend, and/or earn CEUs for your participation on reviews.

COHORT COURSE PATHWAY Two facilitated three-week online courses must be successfully completed in order to begin serving on review teams. Courses run monthly throughout the summer and fall. Choose the sessions that work best for you! 1.    Applying the QM K-12 Rubric Workshop (K-12 APPQMR) Get an introduction to QM, learn how to use the Rubric and apply it to a real course. Learn how to improve online or blended course design with research-supported standards which include annotations with best practices, examples, and look-fors. Become familiar with writing helpful recommendations for continuous improvement with the QM Rubric as your guide. This workshop also counts as the first step towards becoming a K-12 Course Reviewer. 2.    K-12 Reviewer Course (K-12 RC) The K-12 Reviewer Course includes practice critiquing and writing helpful recommendations, and a Practice Review in which participants review specific standards in a simulated online course review using the QM web-based course review system.

BENEFITS: ⦁    Once you become a QM-Certified K-12 Reviewer, you may have the opportunity to serve on anywhere between 2-10 reviews a year depending on demand, and your own schedule. Too much on your plate one month? No problem, we’ll just put you on the next available review. ⦁    QM-Certification is good for one year, at which time, you will need to renew your Certification for free. When a new QM K-12 Rubric is released, keep your Certification up-to-date by taking the free Rubric Update, which takes about 2 hours. ⦁    See innovative learning opportunities taking place in other online courses. Find new ideas to incorporate into your own courses. ⦁    Earn stipends and CEUs (clock hours). ⦁    Opportunities to further grow as a QM-Certified Master Reviewer.

TOTAL TIME COMMITMENT: ⦁    Pathway Completion: ⦁    K-12 APPQMR - 3 weeks, approximately 15 hours ⦁    K-12 RC - 3 weeks, approximately 24-30 hours ⦁    Course Reviews: ⦁    1 scheduled virtual pre-review kick off meeting - approximately 30 minutes. ⦁    Active Review - individual work approximately 10 hours over 3 weeks. ⦁    1 scheduled virtual post-review meeting - approximately 30 - 60 minutes.
