    Job description

    The Global Debt Market Electronic Trading team is responsible for automated pricing and risk management on fixed income electronic platforms globally. The Quant Research / Dev role will report locally into the Head of GDM Electronic trading in New York. The team focuses on fixed income markets across US Treasury, US IG / LATAM Corporate bonds and Fixed Income ETF.

    • Create a close working relationship with the global GDM algo trading and quant research team in order to carry out delegated tasks independently.

    • Responsible for Quant research and development across rates and credit product

    • Maintains a thorough knowledge of Fixed Income products, including detailed understanding of pricing and trading strategies

    • Work closely with technology and broader quant team to designing algorithms for relative value and macro signal analysis

    • Formulation of trading strategies across government bonds, corporate bonds and fixed income ETF

    • Enhance the existing research infrastructure which includes alpha generation, portfolio management and pricing modules

    • Collaborate effectively with the global technology team on model testing and documentation

    Management of Risk

    • Responsible for the continual assessment of operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructuring and the impact of new technology.

    • Demonstrates compliance with HSBC Group standards, manuals and policies and adheres to the defined work practices, internal controls and risk management standards associated with the role.

    Observation of Internal Controls

    • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

    • Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business activities associated with the role, specifically HSBC internal controls and compliance policies and manuals.

    For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $125,000 and $150,000.

    The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

    Requirements

    • PhD/ Master's degree in Engineering/Computer Sc. / Applied Mathematics / Finance

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with very strong analytical skills.

    • Must have knowledge of coding languages such as Scala, Java, C++, Python, KDB, Q

    • Must have experience in doing independent research and building prototype based on the business use case

    • Ability to multi-task and to work well under pressure, strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

    • Understanding of software lifecycle and ability to write production quality code

    • Knowledge of Fixed Income products is preferred not required.
