Job Description
The focal point of contact for all IT-related personnel, equipment, functions, and performance.
Integrates and maintains a full spectrum of NT Domain(s), Email systems, phone, internet, point-to-point, MPLS, and other circuit connections, internal LAN/WAN infrastructure, all firewalls, switches, routers, workstation and server systems, printers, and peripheral equipment including scanners, removable drives, monitors, and HID devices.
Responsible for system security including mitigation and remediation from threats, including malware and hacking. Establishes and maintains security access controls, updates, countermeasures, and monitoring to appropriately protect company data and system integrity from unauthorized sources and methods.
Manages IT technicians and system administrators and is responsible for the installation, maintenance, operation and upgrade progression of computer network hardware and software to include office and shop floor use. Defines and refines integration of existing computer network systems with new products and methodologies.
Implements and manages the company contracts related to IT functions, including printer, network, power and system maintenance, software licensing, circuits, off-site storage, internet registered domains names and resolution, testing and monitoring systems, security certificates, security system components.
Monitors the utilization of all networks to detect potential capacity limits, errors, or problems and oversees remediation efforts where needed and provides the necessary prevention measures.
Designs and/or modifies existing network configurations to maximize efficiency and performance. Provides new application ideas to all areas of the company, especially the incorporation of new technology to gain better efficiency and improve productivity as well as reduce cost.
Evaluate, recommend, procure, replace and integrate hardware, software and telecommunications equipment consistent with the company’s system needs.
Lead new project implementations for IT responsible portions, including design and integration of network, server, workstation, printer, scanner, and other functional aspects. Makes use of project management tools to monitor progress and ensure meeting completion goals.
Ensures company data is backed-up. Backed-up sources include file server shares, user home directories, system databases, and network device (switch, router, firewall) configurations. Incorporates off-site storage and duplication practices.
Develops, maintains, and tests the IT Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plan.
Forecasts system and network hardware, software, and peripheral needs for planning and budgeting.
Assures all capital expenditure equipment and services are budgeted, scheduled on a fiscal basis, and requested with proper justification.
Maintains accurate inventory of all computer, network, and phone equipment.
Maintains a leading-edge knowledge base for IT functions and any hardware and software applications.
Maintains software licenses to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
Ensures adherence to Internet best practice standards to prevent anomalies and violations that would place the company’s external-facing domain name in jeopardy, cause adverse reputation or black listing of email or otherwise create a denial of service for business data flow.
Develops and oversees the provision of technical support and system hardware and software and system security training to end-users. Training includes system security best practices, problem alerting, notification and escalation, office suite, SAP, Shop Floor application, browser and email software use as well as printing, copying, and scanning.
Authors and approves company policy documents to cover the full spectrum of IT standards, functions, security, and regulatory compliance.
Oversees and maintains the company external Web and FTP sites including DMZ hosting, server updates and firewalled access.
