Reporting to the Software Development Manager, the Business/QA Analyst is a key contributor to business-critical initiatives across a diverse set of institutional program and service areas. Projects vary in technological complexity, but include mobile development, web development, enterprise application development, system integrations, and process improvement initiatives. Primarily sharing traditional Business Analyst and Quality Assurance responsibilities, the Business/QA Analyst combines knowledge of relevant technical and business tools with a blend of business analysis, project management, and quality assurance skills. This position requires an individual who is both technically and business savvy with a willingness to change roles or take on multiple roles on any given project. Projects will differ in methodology (Agile vs. Waterfall), complexity (small vs. large), and nature (business process vs. heavily-technology-dependent). The Business-QA Analyst will serve different roles on different projects, and apply the appropriate skills and mindset to the specific needs of that role on that project, including managing small to medium sized projects. As a member of the IT Development Team, this position will support and champion established project management protocols, practices, and procedures. Requirements Definition - Project/Product Support * Executes Project Management Plan regarding methodologies, processes, tools, and roles outlined for given project(s). * Elicits requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis tasks and workflow analysis. Critically evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts, decomposes high-level information into details, abstracts up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguishes user requests from the underlying true needs. * Produces documentation that communicates appropriate technical, business, and functional requirements, using standard templates or guidelines where appropriate. Incorporates current state and future state designs, wireframes, user interface guides, use cases, process maps, and other details as needed. * Uses excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with a diverse group of team members, executives, stakeholders, and subject matter experts. * Liaisons between business units, technology teams, support teams, and end users. Quality Assurance * Executes Project Management Plan regarding methodologies, processes, tools, and roles outlined for given project(s). * Creates test plans, use cases/scenarios, and detailed test scripts based on project requirements. * Performs all aspects of testing including exploratory, functional, regression, load and system testing. * Manages defect list. Works directly with team members to ensure reported defects are validated, understood, prioritized and addressed. * Directs user acceptance testing (UAT) efforts and manage feedback from users. * Works to resolve issues that impede the QA effort. * Provides final QA signoff as needed. General PMO Support and other duties * Contributes to adoption and advancement of established Project Management protocols, practices, and procedures. * Contributes to adoption and advancement of Product Management protocols, practices, and procedures. * Performs other duties as assigned. Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed to support delivery of time-critical project deadlines. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree is required. * Minimum 5 years of relevant professional IT experience in positions related to the aforementioned duties. * Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies is required. Demonstrated experience documenting complex business processes and writing requirements, both in traditional "long form" and as Agile user stories. * An ability to communicate at all levels including executive management is expected. * Strong organizational skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex problems required. * Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Additional experience with business process analysis and project management desired. * CCBA, CBAP, CAPM, PMP and CSM certifications are a plus.
