    Job Description

    SUMMARY: This is a 12-month renewable internship that reports directly to the Associate Athletic Director for Development. The successful candidate must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at Queens University of Charlotte. There is no expressed or implied commitment to a paid position upon completion of the internship. This role is eligible for tuition remission for up to six credit hours per semester. No stipend or housing is offered.

    AREAS OF LEARNING AND APPLICATION:

    This is a great opportunity to learn athletics operations from the inside-out. The graduate assistant for athletic development and sponsorships will learn how to assist the Associate Athletic Director for Development with day-to-day operations in building financial support for the department. The selected individual will be provided instruction and directions and perform duties under close observation.  •    Work closely with the Associate AD for Development and the Queens Athletics Fund Board to gain and apply a comprehensive understanding of Queens athletic programs and fundraising priorities. •    Learn how to assist in developing engagement, solicitation, and stewardship strategies to grow annual memberships and annual donations. •    Learn how to coordinate cultivation activities and solicitations •    Learn how to plan and execute Queens Athletics Fund events. •    Learn how to manage reporting, mailings, and other vital office tasks. •    Learn and practice management, development and implementation of all fundraising and development efforts for all sports including assisting with solicitations and events. •    Learn and practice assisting with coordinating community outreach efforts to involve groups throughout the area •    Learn and practice working with development office to build relationships with current sponsors and locate new game day sponsors •    Learn and practice assisting with training student and volunteer staff •    Learn and practice assisting in the development of printed materials (i.e. mailings, brochures, etc.). •    Learn and practice use of social media to promote teams, student-athletes, and upcoming events. •    Learn and practice assisting in home event management and staffing 

  • Qualifications

    •    Undergraduate degree in marketing, business, or related area of study •    Must be a current, full-time graduate student at Queens University of Charlotte  •    Prior experience in development in a collegiate setting preferred •    Strong communication, organization, writing, editing and design skills •    Experience using Mac and PC computers •    Working knowledge of social media platforms •    Strong follow‐up and follow‐through skills as well as ability to plan, organize and control projects through to completion •    Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel
