    Job Description

    Summary: The College of Arts and Sciences at Queens University of Charlotte invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure track position in Chemistry. The selected candidate will join a collaborative Biology and Chemistry Department dedicated to inclusive undergraduate teaching. This is an annual contract position with the possibility of renewal that will begin in August 2024.

    The selected candidate will engage a diverse group of students in the process of science through innovative teaching primarily in general chemistry courses with the opportunity to contribute to upper-level courses and labs that match expertise. This position also includes teaching in our general education program with interdisciplinary “science and society” courses. Success in this position is defined by excellence in teaching and the appointee’s ability to inspire students through active learning of general chemistry concepts.

    This position is exempt from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible to earn overtime pay or compensatory time off for additional hours worked. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

    Essential Experience, Knowledge and Skills

    • A master’s degree in Chemistry from a regionally accredited institution

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience using technology-supported pedagogies and active learning to engage students
    • Experience mentoring undergraduate students in course-embedded and/or independent research projects

    Work Conditions

    • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to meet requirements of the position, including teaching night or weekend classes.

    • Work has deadlines, interruptions, moderate volume and can be stressful.
