    Quinn Evans (QE) is an architect and design firm with diverse expertise in architecture, preservation, interior design, and landscape architecture.     We are seeking a Marketing Manager for our Cultural Practice. QE is currently the top firm in the nation for Museums and Galleries, according to the latest “2020 Giants 400 Report” compiled by Building Design + Construction magazine. In addition, QE, which

    has completed numerous projects for the Smithsonian Institution, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and other museum and arts-related clients, is ranked #5 in the Cultural Facilities sector overall. Within that category, the firm also ranked #24 in Performing Arts and Concert Venues.

     

    This position reports to the firm’s Marketing Director and directly engages the Cultural Practice Area leadership and the Executive Vice President. The Marketing Manager – Cultural will provide marketing leadership and direction at the office and firm levels, providing strategic guidance to sustain and develop the Cultural Practice resulting in successful outcomes. The position will deliver marketing and business development leadership as follows:

    Developing the Practice / Practice Area Engagement The role will work closely with Practice leaders to guide activities that contribute to the evolution of the Cultural Practice. This includes leveraging the portfolio of work and unique expertise to sustain and grow market positions. 

    • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of marketing strategies in support of the Practice.

    • Provide strategic insight relative to Practice conditions across the firm's active regions to inform and affect the overall BD/marketing approach. 

    • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders for brand building and marketing initiatives. This includes creating and messaging the story of the Practice internally and externally.

    • Direct the development and maintenance of marketing collateral and assets related to promoting and support the work of the Practice. 

    • Provide strategic leadership and management of pursuits within the Practice.

     

     

    Marketing Leadership The Marketing Manager will provide leadership of marketing, engaging with leaders and professional staff through the seller-doer model to nurture a proactive culture of business development and Practice positioning.

    • Planning & Strategy. Devise and execute marketing strategies and goals and corporate marketing program initiatives—lead and direct client-focused research and analysis and capture planning efforts.

    • Team Building. Provide leadership in the relationship development across the firm, internally and externally with clients and business partners through integrated marketing practices:

      • leadership in client/contact relationship management practices;

      • working with and coaching staff to develop winning proposals and client presentations; and

      • professional and community organizations to promote firm visibility and recognition;

       

    • Positioning. Guide the development and execution of go/no-go decision-making, planning, and win strategies to successfully capture work. Plan, direct and participate in pursuits – regionally and nationally - as required.

    • Measurement & Verification. Provide regular reporting (data and key metrics) regarding opportunity status and performance, work pipeline and backlog, lead capture plans, and client development plans. 

    • Monitor the overall quality and performance of marketing and proposal efforts (see Marketing Activities below). Provide informed market perspective as it relates to the Practice to develop analysis related to effective use of resources and their long-term payback related to marketing efforts.

    Marketing Team Activities & Initiatives The Marketing Manager will provide leadership within the marketing team, engage with other managers to meet the firm's needs, and participate in multi-faceted responsibilities to promote the firm. 

    • Proposal Management. Lead effective pursuit teams to ensure quality and success; this includes managing and directing marketing and professional staff to achieve firm-wide marketing goals and meet team deadlines.

    • Information Management. Direct the work of the team to ensure the collection, organization and ongoing management of Marketing Data and Assets that are vital to the Practice. Ensure the consistent presentation of collaterals. 

    • Messaging and Strategy. Provide leadership to deliver consistent brand messaging and strategic communications using traditional and digital marketing processes and platforms. 

    • Training. Provide marketing and BD training to professional staff and participate in employee on-boarding protocols.

     

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Architecture, or other applicable degree program is required

    • 7+ years in a marketing role for an architecture, engineering or construction company

    • Detailed knowledge of marketing procedures, work processes, and tools, along with evidence of past successful management of marketing projects and teams

    • Knowledge of the Cultural marketplace (including museums, visitor centers, cultural heritage sites, performing arts venues and facilities) 

    • The ability to think creatively and strategically. Develop creative ideas as well as listen and build on the ideas of others in the firm. Flexibility and a creative approach to problem-solving are essential

    • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office

    • Experience managing CRM systems - working knowledge of database programs such as Deltek Vision and Axomic OpenAsset is preferable

    • Demonstrated visual, written, and oral communication skills

    • Detail oriented with excellent writing, editing, grammar, and proofreading skills

    • Experience and ability to tailor writing content based on the project type, message, and intended target audience

    • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with both peers and senior members of the firm, and professional staff at all levels

    • Experience working independently, as well as within cross-functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment  

    • Experience managing teams of people with demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and provide constructive criticism in a team setting and one-on-one

    • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects, meeting deadlines and working well under pressure, while maintaining a high level of accuracy, meticulous attention to detail and follow-through

    • Proactive-can-do attitude and initiative to collaborate with office staff

    • Sound professional judgment, strong work ethic, positive and client-focused attitude.

    • Proven track record of meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities simultaneously

    • Self-motivator who likes to work collaboratively with colleagues across all levels
