    The Sprinter Technician position provides accurate, efficient service to customers by troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing SPRINTER trucks, in a friendly and safe environment. Typical services include: preventive maintenance, diagnostic troubleshooting, electrical, clutch, suspension, air/hydraulic brake and air conditioning systems diagnosis and repair, and more.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.

    • Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair.

    • Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.

    • Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.

    • Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.

    • Ensures that vehicle is kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.

    • Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.

    • Road tests vehicles when required.

    • Participates in manufacturer sponsored training programs, schools, and events.

    • Support other technicians and supervises work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.

    • Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.

    • Understands and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.

    • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.

    • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to make logical decisions in support of business demands.

    • Knowledge and proven experience with diagnostic fault-code troubleshooting using laptop computer / software, electrical, clutch, suspension, air/hydraulic brake and air conditioning systems diagnosis and repair.

    • Good written and verbal communication

    Education and Work Experience:

    • Either one year or more mechanical experience or graduate of accredited diesel program for advanced positions

    • Either high school diploma or GED for entry-level positions

    • A/C certification

    • Computer skills in order to navigate diagnostics and dealership computer system

    • Current and valid driver license

    • Basic tool box
