    POSITION SUMMARY

    The R&D Chemist is responsible for converting product concepts into physical products through formulation, laboratory testing, methods validation, microbiological support, documentation, and plant trials in a GMP-regulated environment.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Prepare laboratory solutions and reagents.
    • Perform routine chemical testing of new products under development.
    • Support microbiological testing activities related to product development or investigations.
    • Write and execute method validation studies.
    • Assist in developing and executing cleaning and sanitization procedures.
    • Maintain and clean R&D equipment and production equipment after R&D use.
    • Compile R&D data, results, and observations.
    • Maintain accurate data records in laboratory notebooks.
    • Follow GMP regulations and documentation expectations.
    • Assist with sending chemical and microbiological samples to outside laboratories.
    • Assist in batching and filling line trials.
    • Support plant trials and scale-up activities.
    • Perform all other duties as necessary.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related scientific field preferred.
    • Experience working in a chemical laboratory, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
    • Knowledge of chromatography, formulation, and cleaning commercial pharmaceutical equipment.
    • cGMP experience is a plus.
    • Microbiological training or experience is a plus, including microbiological testing, aseptic techniques, environmental monitoring, or bioburden investigations.
    • Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Work is performed in chemistry laboratory, manufacturing/production, and office settings. The role requires compliance with safety, quality, GMP, sanitation, and PPE requirements and may involve standing, walking, climbing stairs, accessing production equipment, and connecting or disconnecting hoses during lab, batching, filling, or plant trial activities.
