  • Responsibilities

    As the General Manager of our ready-mix concrete company in Nevada, you will be responsible for construction of new facilities, overseeing the production and delivery of all product lines while ensuring operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. This also includes oversight of environmental and safety matters to reduce liabilities and exposure. The General Manager will lead a team of direct reports, including plant managers, drivers, maintenance and support staff, and collaborate closely with senior management to achieve business objectives.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend assignments may be required depending on workload and service needs. We expect this position to work the hours necessary to achieve the company’s goals and objectives. Pay: $150k + depending on experience.

    Essential Functions:

    Operations

    · Oversee all aspects of the ready-mix concrete production process, ensuring adherence to quality standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.

    · Optimize plant operations to achieve production targets, minimize downtime, and control operating costs.

    · Monitor inventory levels and manage the procurement of raw materials and supplies.

    · Conduct regular financial analysis and reporting to senior management, providing insights and recommendations.

    · Coordinate with sales and logistics teams to ensure timely and efficient delivery of products to customers.

    · Participate in project meetings with customers and their staff regarding concrete deliveries, concrete performance and the mix submittal process.

    Management

    · Provide direction, guidance, and leadership to the entire team and continually assess skill levels of direct reports.

    · Implement effective operational plans, policies, and procedures.

    · Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and employee engagement with the ability to manage conflict.

    · Mentor and develop direct reports, providing regular feedback and coaching for their growth.

    · Ensure appropriate customer service levels to all the company’s external customers.

    · Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all direct reports and other employees to exchange information and gather ideas.

    · Partner with HR to effectively address employee’s concerns/complaints.

    Safety and Compliance

    · Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.

    · Ensure consistent recordkeeping and reporting compliance.

    · Promote a strong safety culture, conducting regular safety meetings, inspections, and training programs.

    · Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety, environmental compliance, and operational procedures.

    Non-Essential Duties:

    · Oversee and provide training to direct reports and/or plant operations in any field relating to the performance of concrete, cements, supplementary cementitious materials, admixtures and or any other concrete products.

    · Provide oversight of daily batching operations.

    Core Competencies:

    · Demonstrates knowledge of all applicable regulations affecting Ready Mix plant production, safety, environment, state and federal and company policies.

    · Knowledge of local regulations and industry best practices related to safety and environmental compliance.

    · Knowledge of supply market trends.

    · Ability to assist with financial and reporting activities.

    · Working knowledge of concrete, cement and aggregate testing procedures complying with ASTM and ACI requirements.

    · Must be able to diagnose and analyze concrete performance issues or any concerns customers may have in the performance of mixes.

    · Excellent leadership skills, decision making and problem-solving skills.

    · Ability to motivate, coach and develop direct reports and other employees.

    · Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

    · Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

    Travel Required: Travel to various projects, plants (in other locations) and seminars will be required for this position, as needed.

    Preferred Education and Experience · High School Diploma or GED.

    · Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 5 years plant/general management experience in an aggregate, concrete or construction environment.

    · Experience working in a fast paced, construction/concrete manufacturing industry, with a diverse culture.

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    · Valid Nevada driver’s license.

    · Must have effective communication skills in the English language in both written and verbal form.
