  • Responsibilities

    Objective: To assist the Child care program director with day-to-day administrative functions related to the program.

    Hours of Work: Full time, M-F 

    Salary: $11-$16 per hour

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Comply with all requirements of State of Maryland Child Care Licensing Rules
    • Required knowledge of principles and practices of office etiquette and use of business equipment (e.g. phone, copier, computer, fax, laminator)
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • High level of proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Publisher, as well as, the ability to learn and use new technology.
    • Able to work cooperatively with people from diverse backgrounds, including parents/ program participants, staff and volunteers.
    • Physical capability to perform required duties. Must be able to lift approximately 30 pounds.
    • Negative Covid Test results
    • Administrative clerical experience
    • Experience working in a an early childhood program is helpful, but not required.

    General Responsibilities

    • Answering the telephone and returning messages as needed. Monitor main entrance and answer door bell.
    • Assist visitors in the building.
    • Data entry
    • Assist the director in maintaining files for all children (both hard copies and files on Childcare Manager Software).
    • Monitoring inventories and ordering office supplies. May assist in running errands and purchasing supplies.
    • Together with the Director, organizing registration for all programs, including preparing all necessary forms and documentations.
    • Generating attendance sheets and meal attendance sheets for all classes.
    • Maintain confidentiality of program records and administrative information. Participate in professional development training as it relates to job responsibilities.
    • Maintain appropriate professional relationships with director, staff, parents, and board members.
    • Maintain a clean and organized office, lobby and copy room.
    • May assist classroom staff in maintaining ratios and coverage of classroom. Other duties as assigned.
