Group Leader Mechanical Design Engineering
Performing and leading others in carrying out development and engineering mechanical design requirements of special machinery assembly, inspection, feed, and production machinery for the Schaeffler Group as well as for external customers with the goal that the delivered equipment meets all technical, economic, and qualitative requirements. Serving as a knowledge resource to inter-departmental groups in addition to other world-wide Schaeffler locations, plants, internal and external customers.
Managing the mechanical engineering design group with technical, personnel, and organizational responsibility
Participating in the strategic orientation and development of production processes in the area of feed technology, assembly technology, production technology, and inspection technology
Advising and assisting production (within the Schaeffler Group) with rationalization and automation projects and for the procurement of machine systems
Optimizing and developing the existing production processes further
Responsible for selecting and supervising external suppliers of machine systems and components
Collaboration when preparing quotations and the associated calculation
Planning walk-throughs of orders/ project and monitoring implementation with respect to quality, costs, and dates
Developing and qualifying the assigned employees
Capacity and personnel planning
Coordinating resources for the mechanical engineering design group ensuring continuous improvement (MOVE)
Serve as the Project Leader whenever required for Special Machinery build projects
Preparing concepts
Comply with deadlines
Carrying out required calculations and tests
Preparing layouts, drafts, and 3D models
Detailing and preparing bill of materials
Maintain order and cleanliness at work center
Supervising and monitoring design documents
Preparing risk assessments and process descriptions
Responsible for fluid plans and their monitoring
Mentor for employee training in his/her area
Complying and collaborating with the preparation of instructions, Safety requirements and procedures
Continuous improvement in the course of work tasks
Collaborating in Special Machinery projects according to the Special Machinery Project Management Approach
Ensuring Quality, costs, and dates in the design work package
Travel required to perform machine servicing with internal and external customers in various locations in other countries when needed
