RAN Software Development Engineer
Location:
Dallas, Texas Schedule: Full-Time | 40 hours per week | Monday – Friday
Position Summary:
Salient Global Technologies CORP is seeking a highly skilled RAN Software Development Engineer to design, develop, and deploy advanced network solutions supporting LTE, 5G, and next-generation wireless technologies.
This position requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field (or foreign equivalent), and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in LTE and 5G network engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and deploy Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) APIs on network devices by interpreting technical and business requirements.
Design LTE/5G/6G end-to-end call flows from Radio to Core network; provide protocol parameter templates, unit test cases, and API documentation.
Develop high-level architecture diagrams, testing strategies, and detailed execution plans.
Execute and validate end-to-end test plans; collect and analyze technical and business data.
Prepare executive summaries and technical presentations for internal and client stakeholders.
Serve as a domain expert for RAN call flows, UE protocol stack operations, and integration across Radio, Core, and Front-End Applications.
Install and configure multi-vendor network products (Cisco, Ciena, Nokia, Samsung, Ericsson) in lab, test, and pre-production environments.
Develop and execute test cases for protocol layers such as RRC, MAC, PDCP, RLC, and SDAP.
Analyze and troubleshoot signaling and user-plane protocol issues and implement corrective solutions.
Design and implement debug harnesses and instrumentation for baseband chip validation.
Capture and process RF data using tools such as QXDM, Channel Emulator, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, and AI-based tools.
Configure radios for various engineering parameters (e.g., RF slicing, power, frequency, bandwidth, modulation).
Validate conformity and compliance specifications for Radios under test; perform RF path loss calculations, system modeling, and predictions.
Develop software applications for I/Q RF stream data collection and post-analysis.
Capture and replicate commercial core network architecture within lab test environments.
Design and implement packet capture harnesses for core network analysis.
Develop and maintain applications using Python, C, Shell, and Go programming languages.
Implement CI/CD pipelines using Red Hat OpenShift and OpenStack environments.
Utilize Jira, Confluence, and Git for version control, project tracking, and documentation.
Prepare and maintain professional documentation, reports, and high-level presentations using standard office tools.
Qualifications:
Education:
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field (or foreign equivalent).
Preference will be given to candidates who hold degrees from accredited U.S. institutions.
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience in LTE and 5G networks, including RAN design, radio configuration, and core network integration.
Strong understanding of UE, Radio, and Core network architecture and operation.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in programming languages: Python, C, Shell, Go.
Experience with CI/CD environments, including OpenShift and OpenStack.
Familiarity with tools such as QXDM, Spectrum Analyzer, Channel Emulator, Signal Generator.
Experience with RF testing, signal processing, and network protocol debugging.
Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, and Git for project and version control.
