    Position Hours and Location We are actively hiring for this position. You will be expected to work a standard schedule of 40 hours per week at our Knoxville office and/or your home office. Our office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. ET. You will also be expected to travel at times to support sales and marketing opportunities across the country.

    Compensation This position features nearly unlimited earning potential with a base plus commission structure. Competitive pay is based on experience and will be discussed with you during the interview process.

    RequirementsWhat You’ll Do Your seat will have the following roles and responsibilities, though there will be new needs and activities that develop during your time here that you’ll be involved with as well:

    • TECHNICAL ADVISOR: Be an expert consultant on our solutions for customers. Know our services and products inside and out; be able to articulate the benefits of each to be able to recommend the right solution, every time. Explain the company’s value proposition simply and clearly. Interact with prospects and customers on the phone, online, and in-person (where available). Learn and be able to explain the latest cloud infrastructure technologies. Represent the company with partners and end users on sales and marketing events, both virtual and in-person.
    • OPPORTUNITY, POC, & DEMO MANAGEMENT: Manage all assigned opportunities and keep track of demo products, learn client needs, manage expectations and deliverables, and communicate with all stakeholders. Support sales executives with solution selling into prospect account base. Partner with sales executives to plan, prepare and execute on strategic deals in complex sales cycles. Manage all technical aspects of RFP / RFI responses. Promote, conduct and manage Proof of Concept trials in the field.
    • TECHNICAL SALES SUPPORT: Model the financial business case associated with each sales opportunity. Successfully match customer pain/requirements to proposed solutions. Create and deliver powerful presentations and demos that clearly communicate the uniqueness of the value proposition.
    • PRODUCT DEPLOYMENT SUPPORT & DEVELOPMENT: Provide customers and prospects with hands on configuration assistance and training. Effectively communicate client needs to the R&D teams for future product enhancements. Collect and document competitive intelligence.
    • TECHNICAL TRIBE BUILDING: Build trusting relationships with our core referral partners. Network online and in-person (where available) with local/regional centers and people of influence.

    • You understand the most important aspect of any business is customer relationship growth (sales).

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree supported by 6+ years of demonstrated solution sales experience
    • Experience in a complex sales environment
    • Ability to forge strong, long-lasting relationships with senior executives
    • Ability to creatively explain and present complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner
    • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in networking and/or information security technologies
    • Knowledge of Cellular Networking and Telecommunications preferred (bonus for Cradlepoint Network Expert and 5G Sales Professional certifications)
    • Knowledge of POTS line technology preferred
    • Experience selling to commercial and public sector organizations preferred
    • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite and able to work in a CRM

    EXPECTATIONS The Sales Engineer supports sales executives with solution selling into prospect account base and partners with sales executives to plan, prepare, and execute on strategic deals in complex sales cycles. The Sales Engineer is responsible for selling into new prospects as well as farming back into existing customers to ensure high renewal and customer satisfaction levels. Measures of success include new customer acquisition rates, renewal rates, up-selling, cross-selling, customer satisfaction and contribution to the overall sales team and business success.
