SUMMARY POSITION STATEMENT:

This position is responsible for providing early intervention services to families with infants and toddlers (birth to 3 years of age) who experience developmental delays or disabilities. Services include transdisciplinary play based developmental evaluations, family service coordination, and diagnostic and treatment. Evaluations, Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP), and home visits are completed and implemented with families to promote the family's capacity to support their child's growth and development within the child and family's natural environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

• Participates as a team member in transdisciplinary assessments and identification of infants and young children with social emotional delays or attachment disorders in development
• Consults with parents through relationship based practice, in order to promote the parent-child relationship. Treatment including various models of parent-infant psychotherapy:
• Carefully listens to families to help them identify, clarify, and address issues that may be affecting the developing relationship with their child. Assisting parents/caregivers to understand and respond sensitively to the cues the child gives.
• Working with community mental health and public health providers, when there is concern about maternal depression, parental substance abuse and other family mental health disorders.
• Developing cross-disciplinary approaches between infant mental health and early intervention providers and provides consultation to other providers and families.
• Provides family service coordination for children enrolled in the program, as needed.
• Develops and implements Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP).
• Provides information about social-emotional development in the context of caregiving relationships to all parents, health care providers, child care providers, etc., as part of child find and public awareness efforts.
• Maintains up-to-date and accurate files and data entry in accordance with ILP and agency policies and follows billing procedures.
• Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with other providers and agencies serving families. In doing so, makes referrals and accesses resources for children and families and facilitates the transition process for exiting children.
• Work is performed primarily within the client's home, including evening home visits; and will require driving during inclement weather conditions. Travels to outlying communities to provide services as needed via small plane or ferries.
• Actively participates in on-going learning, mentoring, and relationship-based supervision.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participates in public awareness activities and child find efforts.
• Participate in Reflective supervision with the ILP team
• This program uses a relationship based infant mental health approach. Support and training will be provided.
• Provides in-service training as necessary within the program, parent groups, community, and at statewide conferences as requested.
• Understands and complies with all agency policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements set by federal law, the State ILP and payors such as Medicaid.
• Ensures confidentiality as prescribed by agency policy and federal/state law.
• Maintains and promotes a positive professional working relationship with all employees and partner agencies.
• Attends and participates in meetings, committees and training as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the ILP Director.
• Upholds professional ethics as outlined by the NASW (National Association of Social Workers), and Alliance for Infant Mental Health.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work from an accredited university. CPR and first aid certificates required within 30 days of hire. TB, fingerprint and background check clearance required. Must have current Alaska driver's license and auto insurance per agency standards.

Licensure: Current State of Alaska LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) or license eligible preferred. Will also consider other licensure in mental health such as LPC or LMFT or new graduates. Registry with the SEED with an assigned Level 10 or higher within 30 days of hire. Completion of the State of Alaska Part C Credential within 6 months of hire.

Minimum Experience: 1 year of pediatric social work experience preferred or experience working with young children who experience developmental delays, home visiting or 1 year providing family therapy with children.
