NEEDED: REGISTERED NURSE I - General
LOCATION: 13777 Air Expressway Blvd., Victorville, CA 92394
SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, Monday – Friday, as needed between 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM, for 120 workdays annually. Total: 960 hours annually
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be certified to practice medicine in the state of California.
- Must provide verification of credentials (education, current licensor/status competency, continuing medical education).
- Must have at least one or more years of experience.
- Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
- Ability and skill to operate EKG
JOB DUTIES: S hall be responsible for, but is not limited to:
- Provide direct patient care services in accordance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards through the evaluation of patients and therapeutic treatment as ordered by Health Services clinical staff
- Perform nursing duties within the scope of the current licensure
- Administer medications as prescribed i.e., by mouth, intradermal, subcutaneously, or intramuscularly
- Assist with distribution of medications at pill line
- Monitor and evaluate the response to therapy
- Perform skin testing
- Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services
- Take medical histories, examine patients, order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays
- Perform venipuncture for the purpose of obtaining laboratory specimens
- Maintain accurate logs of all reports
- Policy Screen laboratory tests/results for normal/abnormal lad values and notify the physician or physicians
- Ensure all sharps are secured, accounted for, stored and disposed of according to institutional and national policy
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
- Adhere to infection control policies and procedures
- Clinically manage injuries by bleeding control, bandaging, splinting, and immobilizing
- Attend to medical emergencies
- Work collaboratively with the staff physician(s) and consulting physician(s) in planning, instituting, evaluating and revising program plans
- Assist in determining conditions, resources and policies essential to delivery of the health care services
- Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional, or mental problems
- Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick-call; which may include securing health histories from the patient, recording findings and providing clinical evaluations
- Provides a wide range of emergency services, in the absence of the physician
- Perform duties as required, but accept only those nursing assignments that are commensurate with his/her educational preparation, training, experience, and licensure laws
- Preform intakes on newly incarcerated or transferred inmates
- Prepare medical documentation for transferring inmates/patients
