    Job Description

    INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT SUPPLIER IN NORTHWEST HOUSTON IS SEEKING A PAYROLL SPECIALIST (PART-TIME) TO JOIN THEIR TEAM!

    The Payroll Specialist will work closely with the Payroll Manager performing a variety of routine payroll functions and full cycle payroll. The Payroll Specialist must have a strong understanding and knowledge of standard payroll practices and procedures to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll. This position will serve as the backup to the payroll manager and will run payroll processing when required.

    PAY: $23-25/HOUR

    HOURS: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM MONDAY – WEDNESDAY

    DURATION: TEMP TO POSSIBLE PERM

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Process biweekly payroll for multi-state exempt and non-exempt employees (including commissioned sales) following company guidelines and procedures;
    • Gather timesheet data from excel spreadsheets and ERP system and audit data to ensure compliance with company policy and federal and state laws;
    • Process timely and accurate entry of payroll data;
    • Prepares reports and analyses as required;
    • Complete calculations in Excel, load calculated results into pre-defined Excel templates;
    • Develop new spreadsheet templates for data communication, as required;
    • Ensures completion of supplemental payments and other special payouts;
    • Audits timesheets, child support, garnishments, 401(k) changes, W4 forms, and direct deposits each payroll process;
    • Tracks paid time off and other benefits;
    • Contact for external payroll provider to coordinate software upgrades and ensure compliance with corporate payroll practices, as needed;
    • Assist with various reports, data entry, and business activities.
    • Follow all company safety policies and procedures and organizes work areas for efficiency and safety.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • An Associates degree in accounting or finance, preferred not required
    • Must have a minimum of 2 years direct experience in processing in-house payroll
    • Certified Payroll Professional designation, preferred
    • Individual should possess moderate/advanced skills in MS Excel and be proficient in MS Suite.
    • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in IFS or other Oracle based ERP (preferred).
    • Ability to exercise extreme confidentiality in discussions regarding employee compensation and personal information as well as the company's financial data.
    • Ability to accommodate a flex schedule around payroll processing days (Mon/Tues require 8-5pm schedule and monthly process schedule on occasion there may be additional hours required).
    • Must be accurate and detail-oriented with all data
    • Must be organized and efficient in completing tasks
    • Must have good communications and teamwork skills
