ABOUT REX

REX is a well-funded, game-changing real estate technology startup with offices in Austin, Los Angeles, and the Bay Area. With the goal of improving the lives of homebuyers and sellers, REX created a digital platform and real estate service that eliminates traditional agent commissions and shifts control away from agents over to those who matter most: consumers! REX saves homesellers thousands of dollars in fees by going around the MLS to target home-buyers directly with sophisticated marketing that has never been used in real estate. Since its launch in Southern California, REX has expanded to 17 states and over 250 employees. Throughout the years, REX has represented homes cumulatively valued at over $1 billion and in the process, saved customers over $20 million in fees they otherwise would have paid traditional brokers

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Negotiating and drafting Company Agreements, including commercial and financial transactions, customer agreements, distribution partner agreements, employment and consulting agreements, and other company agreements
• Providing communication and advice pertaining to the company’s requirements and obligations under its agreements with investors, partners, employees and vendors
• Maintaining and tracking company agreements
• Managing and implementing Corporate Governance activities (e.g., corporate secretary functions, corporate compliance for the Board of Directors, etc.), and stockholder communications and compliance
• Executing and managing Litigation and Risk Management, including intellectual property protection, privacy compliance, employee legal matters, new business initiatives; threatened and actual litigation or other legal proceedings
• Executing and managing Intellectual Property, including timely filings, management of company’s intellectual property portfolio, and working with business units to ensure intellectual property is protected
• Actively participating in Financings and Corporate Development, including manage investors, Board and company throughout financing process; organizing due diligence; advising on deal structure; drafting and managing deal documents; conducting negotiations; overseeing finance and securities law matters
• Overseeing the reporting of legal activity metrics

ABOUT THE QUALIFICATIONS

• 10+ years of legal experience
• 5+ years of successful corporate counsel experience in a consumer-focused, product-driven, tech company
• Substantial experience and training in corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, securities and licensing
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, drafting and negotiation and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to work fast and remain nimble in a high-growth, rapidly changing environment
• Experience collaborating with top-level business executives
• Evidence of exceptional performance or accomplishment
• Law degree from top-tier program required   
• Licensed to practice law in either California or Texas
• Based near one of our 3 offices: Woodland Hills, CA / Redwood City, CA / Austin, TX
