    ABOUT THE ROLE

    Brightvine is seeking a full-time Security Engineer to implement and maintain our security systems and assist with IT related tasks. This role is responsible for preventing unauthorized access to our data and responding to privacy breaches. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer to help secure the various elements from the local development machines to the deployments in the cloud, and help securely scale a rapidly growing startup.

    WHAT YOU'LL DO

    In this role, you'll collaborate closely with the engineering team to ensure security best practices are defined and adhered to during the development, delivery, and launch of our tokenization and trading products. A successful Security Engineer candidate has natural curiosity and seeks new weaknesses to mitigate risk within the company. This position will report to the Chief Technology Officer.

    WHAT WE USE (TECH STACK / METHODOLOGIES)

    • We follow Clean Architecture, Domain Driven Design, and The Twelve-Factor App principles and patterns when building solutions
    • We utilize Kubernetes and Docker to deploy multiple Golang and Java based microservices connected to individual PostgreSQL databases within the Google Cloud environment
    • Services communicate internally over an event bus (Pub/Sub) with Protocol Buffer messages which flow to our data warehouse in Google BigQuery
    • Our blockchain platform is based on Hyperledger Besu and nodes are deployed in multiple cloud environments using NodeJS middleware and Solidity smart contracts
    • The frontend uses React/Typescript and Material UI components which communicate to the backend via GraphQL endpoints
    • DevOps uses infrastructure as code principles and relies on Terraform and Helm scripts to automate environment setup and maintain parity between environments
    • We use Github for version control and use Github Actions for automating CI/CD workflows
    • We adopt egoless programming style during code reviews and encourage rigorous debate using data and proof of concepts to backup discussions
    • We continuously test and monitor using a combination of telemetry and logging tooling from Datadog and other QA and security frameworks

    WHAT WE LOOK FOR

    • 2+ years engineering / development experience in a fast paced, agile environment

    • Proficiency in multiple languages with emphasis on security best practices

    • Experience with SOC 1/2 compliance and auditing

    • Team player with a positive attitude

    • Ability to succeed in a startup environment

    • Ability to drive a project from concept to release

    • Proficiency in Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD)

    • Proven success as a Full Cycle developer who owned products through their entire life cycle, from inception to support

    • Fully Remote; Our team is 100% remote and distributed across the United States with our headquarters located in San Francisco

    NICE TO HAVES

    • BS/BA degree, Computer Science major preferred with emphasis on Cybersecurity or equivalent practical experience
    • Blockchain, Crypto, DeFI, Fintech Startup Experience
