RFA ENGINEERING (www.rfamec.com) is seeking a Project Engineer to be part of our engineering team at our client's facility in Hamel, MN. 

DESCRIPTION

The Project Engineer is responsible for directing, coordinating, and executing engineering projects on railroad maintenance equipment while ensuring all end-user customer requirements are met or exceeded with a quality product delivered in a timely manner.  Ensure proper engineering resources are assigned and the client's processes are followed to effectively support delivery of machines or other products to meet and exceed end-user requirements by means of effective and accurate project planning and leadership.

PROJECT ENGINEERING PROCESSES

• Lead multi-discipline engineering teams to deliver designs and documentation with key metrics for schedule, quality, and budget.
• Assist with formulating engineering project specifications based on end-user requirements.
• Generate cost estimates for engineering projects.
• Develop project Scope-of-Work for all engineering activity required to deliver a machine or other product.
• Schedule engineering projects with resource requirement loading.
• Create the machine test and commissioning program scope and coverage.

PROJECT ENGINEERING LEADERSHIP                  

• Oversee the project-level design development and analysis, manage technical risk, and encourage innovation.
• Deploy project team resources to ensure timely design releases, test plans, and design analysis.
• Confirm and verify compliance with end-user requirements and company design standards.
• Track and report on project-level design progress, hour utilization, and costs throughout the project and complete a post-project summary.
• Serve as the focal point for build support and for corrective response to findings made during testing and commissioning.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within engineering and the wider organization.
• Responsible for full product development, including mechanical and manufacturing aspects of design using support staff.
• Facilitate the initial identification of spare parts.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within engineering and the wider organization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: BS degree in Engineering or Business

EXPERIENCE: 5 Years Project Leadership experience and working knowledge of general purpose engineering software or 8+ years Engineering experience, preferably involving systems design or integration.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: MS Project proficiency

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Master’s degree in Business or Engineering, or other advanced technical degree

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:  Professional Engineer, Project Management Professional Certification
