    Job Description

    JOB TITLE : Software Automation Engineer.

    LOCATION : Sacramento, CA USA. (Remote available)

    PAY + BENEFITS

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Will lead Automation initiatives and efforts for on premise infrastructure.
    • This includes development of the infrastructure, automation tools, pipeline executions, and monitoring dashboards of the automation deployed.
    • Identify existing automation use cases to document, catalog, manage and improve.
    • Improve efficiency of Platform task execution by identifying repeatable tasks that can be automated and streamlined, including self-service abilities.
    • Own and be responsible for automation pipeline, execution, and roadmap of the Platform Engineering Team
    • Work independently and as part of a team to develop and document standards and procedures.
    • Be responsible for overseeing major automation initiatives and supporting key functional groups.
    • Development of support processes, technical planning, and work coordination for all facets of automation.
    • When necessary, interact with software vendors to reach problem resolution; may include opening service calls, providing logs, and responding to advice received by phone call, tickets or email.
    • Oncall required as part of a team rotation

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    • Automation first attitude and ownership approach
    • 5+ years of high development proficiency in one or more scripting languages (Python, Ruby, PowerShell).
    • 5+ Years development experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools including Ansible, and Terraform, and code repositories in GitLab/Github.
    • 5+ Years working with GitOps / DevOps processes and environments including developing and running automated CI/CD pipelines
    • Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation, vRealize Operations(vROps) and vRealize Automation (vRa), Vmware Tanzu and other virtualization management tools
    • 8+ Years of UNIX/Linux and Windows Administrator experience supporting medium to large enterprise environments.
    • Ability to understand complex technical concepts and communicate them effectively to other team members
    • Familiarity with ITSM practices and process.
    • Participate in performing and leading technology development, test, and deployment activities
    • Ability and desire to work both independently and with a team.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION, YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS AND CERTIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's Degree or 10 years of equivalent work experience in IT related work.
    • DevOps and CI/CD certifications
    • Programming languages certifications preferred
    • Linux/Unix and Windows Administration certification preferred
