About the Job
The Geotechnical Engineer will be working and collaborating with other RH2 team members in the planning, designing and construction of water, wastewater, irrigation, stormwater, and transportation projects. This work matters and impacts the quality of life for local communities, so we have big responsibilities and strict qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Characterization of soil, geology, and groundwater to identify geotechnical properties and geological hazards for infrastructure design and development
- Soil boring and groundwater monitoring
- Construction observation to conform pre-construction site characterization
- Geological hazard assessment and mitigation
- Shallow and deep foundation design
- Retaining wall and embankment design
- Shoring and dewatering system design and analysis
- Slope stability analysis and mitigation design
- Geological and geotechnical analysis, design, and reporting
- Client Relation Management
- Project Management
Experience and Education
- Bachelor of Science in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering required
- Preference given to Master of Science in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering, or with additional coursework in Engineering Geology or Applied Geologic Sciences
- 10+ years of experience as a multi-disciplined geotechnical engineer or civil engineer with geotechnical experience in the Pacific Northwest
- Experience managing and directing soil, geology, and groundwater drilling, testing and monitoring programs
- Experience with analysis and reporting of geotechnical properties
- Experience with analysis and design of foundations, retaining walls, engineered slopes and embankments
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in GIS, spreadsheets, modeling, remote sensing, or other technical supporting discipline
- Professional Engineer in Washington or Oregon State or equivalent licensing in another state with the ability to pass and obtain a Washington or Oregon license through reciprocity within 6 months
- GIS and limited CAD experience
- Use of slope stability software

Individual compensation will vary within a range based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience as they relate to the requirements for this position. RH2 values our employees' work/life balance and compensates overtime for hours exceeding 40 regular hours in a work week. This position is also eligible for a discretionary performance bonus paid twice a year, dependent upon company and individual performance.
