PROGRAM OVERVIEW
New technologies and business models are critical for the energy transition but suffer from inadequate investment and other support. D3 is a joint venture between RMI and New Energy Nexus that reimagines how early-stage cleantech is brought to market. D3 is a vertically integrated ecosystem with 8+ integrated VC funds with $2 million in deployable capital, 15 global corporate partners with $3 trillion in market cap (including Microsoft, AT&T, Wells Fargo, Shell, BP, FedEx, and others), and deep sectoral expertise and network (from RMI and Nexus) geared at supporting our growing cohort of startups. Our collaborative community helps solve for the multiple valleys of death that climate tech startups face in serving the mission of creating a world that works for 100% of humanity in the shortest time possible.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Third Derivative is seeking Startup Success Associates (SSAs) to guide D3’s cohort of startups. The SSA will own a portfolio of startups. For each startup, the SSA will facilitate monthly meetings, execute on follow-ups, track progress, and work with the D3 team to continuously improve programming. The SSA will serve as a coach, connector, and strategic thinker on behalf of startups by
Facilitating collaboration between portfolio startups, VCs, corporates, and RMI experts.
Contributing to emerging technology and investment thought leadership.
Informing D3 programmatic decisions based on insights gained from startups.
Supporting D3’s events.

Note: D3 is a global organization. We are seeking candidates with international experience, especially those currently living outside of the United States/Canada.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The SSA will own a portfolio of startups and is responsible for accelerating the success of each startup within his/her/their portfolio. As the primary point of contact for each climate tech startup, the SSA:
coaches the startups
liaises between startups, VCs, corporates, RMI experts, and the wider energy ecosystem,
works with startups, investors, and corporations to develop customized partnerships
connects startups with D3 and RMI’s resources
designs, executes, and improves D3 programming, which includes peer-to-peer learning calls, monthly 1:1 meetings, and targeted introductions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Bachelor of Arts or equivalent
Passionate about building climate technology startups
Strong facilitation and networking skills
Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, creatively problem solve, and bring new frameworks for analysis to the D3 ecosystem
Proficiency in productivity tools, and a desire to learn more. We use Asana, Slack, Hubspot and Airtable, and are always looking to improve and find new tools.
Extensive experience working in and/or with non-US countries
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Experience working with or at startups
Experience interacting with large corporations and investors
Operations and technology commercialization experience
