Pay: $50-$55 PER HOUR

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice.

The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry.

The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department.

He / She communicates with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology.

Is capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment.

Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker.

Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

1. Current and valid state RN License.
2. Current BLS (AHA)
3. Current ACLS (AHA)
4. Current PALS (AHA)
5. Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Under the direction of an RN Supervisor, the Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care of any assigned number of patients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Knows and abides by all Facility policies and procedures.

2. Perform duties in accordance with the above and under the direction of an RN or Charge Nurse in accordance with the current theory, practice, and philosophy of the nursing service.

3. Communicates effectively with all team members regarding all facts of patient care.

4. Participates in team conferences to improve the communication process and the quality of patient care.

5. Participates in shift reports according to assignment with adequate and pertinent patient information.

6. Administers therapy and medication as prescribed by the physician.

7. Assists with procedures as needed.

8. Applies, executes, and records legal orders of the physician with an understanding of cause and effect.

9. Maintains accurate and legible patient records.

10. Participates with the Charge Nurse in Planning and delivering measures for care and comfort of patients as assigned.

11. Makes initial and continuing patient assessments with the team members to provide optimal patient care.

12. Contributes in planning patient care with the Supervisor and helps evaluate the results of nursing intervention and proper adaptation.

13. Contributes to patient teaching.

14. Communicates the patient's needs (Transfers / Discharge Planning) to the charge nurse and appropriate resources people.

15. Refers frequently to physician's orders, patient medical records, and charts to assure delivery of quality of care.

16. Reports and records changes in the patient's condition and response to medication.

17. Establishes good interpersonal relations with patients, families, physicians, and peers.

18. Displays initiative, versatility, and adaptability.

19. Assists co-workers and accepts changes in assignments when necessary.

20. Performs other duties assigned by the Head Nurse / Charge within job classification.

21. Continues professional growth through the formal graduate courses: attends continuing education Programs sponsored by the community and other health agencies. Participates in the unit conferences and staff development programs structured by the Education and Training Department.

22. Maintains a professional image by appearance and manner in all working relationships whether interdepartmental, peers, physicians, co-workers, patients, and/or families.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

1. Graduate of a state-approved and accredited School of Vocational Nursing.

2. Currently licensed in the State of Practice.

3. One-year recent acute hospital experience.

4. BCLS Certification is required
