Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care to expectant mothers during labor and delivery, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for both the mother and the newborn. This role requires strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
Duties
- Monitor and assess the health status of mothers and infants during labor and delivery.
- Administer medications and injections as prescribed, ensuring patient safety.
- Provide education and support to families regarding infant care, family planning, and postpartum recovery.
- Assist with emergency procedures as necessary, demonstrating acute care skills.
- Conduct assessments related to anatomy knowledge for both mother and infant.
- Manage tube feeding for infants when required.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare staff to develop individualized care plans.
- Utilize Epic or similar electronic health record systems for documentation and patient management.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment in the labor and delivery unit.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license in the state of practice.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in labor and delivery nursing preferred; outpatient or emergency room experience is a plus.
- Proficient in administering injections and managing acute care situations.
- Strong knowledge of infant care practices.
- Familiarity with tube feeding protocols is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Commitment to providing compassionate care to patients during critical moments.

Schedule Details
- Shifts: Variable
- Weekends: Every other
- Weekend Coverage: Evenly dispersed among all RNs
- On-Call: Yes – max once per pay period
- Float: Yes – to assist with phone calls, IV starts, skill support in other units (no patient assignments)
- Block Scheduling: Not required
- Hours per Week: 36–48 hours approved
