    Position Overview

    We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Medical Step Down Unit. This specialized unit provides intermediate-level care for patients transitioning from intensive care to general medical-surgical units. As a vital member of the healthcare team, you will deliver high-quality, compassionate care while supporting patients through critical stages of recovery.

    This role is ideal for nurses who excel in fast-paced environments and are committed to clinical excellence, teamwork, and patient-centered care.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct comprehensive, age-specific assessments and use findings to develop individualized care plans
    • Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to implement and evaluate care strategies
    • Administer medications and treatments accurately, documenting all interventions using electronic medical records (EPIC)
    • Apply critical thinking and delegation skills to ensure safe, effective care delivery
    • Continuously monitor patient progress and revise care plans based on changes in condition

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing or approved program eligible for Virginia RN licensure exam

    Licensure/Certification:

    • Current RN license in Virginia or eligibility to obtain
    • CPR certification required
    • ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications as applicable

    Additional Requirements:

    • Proficiency in EPIC or similar electronic medical record systems
    • Successful completion of orientation and competency assessments
    • Ability to meet essential job functions and work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
