    Controller - Los Angeles (Century City), CA

    Our client is an established private equity firm that was founded over 20 years ago. They are seeking a Controller to join their close knit team. You will be responsible for all aspects of corporate accounting as well as for the company's hedge fund entities, and SEC compliance obligation. This is a company characterized by long term employees and very low turnover.  Excellent compensation package. 

    The successful candidate will have public accounting and private industry experience. 

    Corporate

    • All aspects of corporate accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable, expense management, and reporting.
    • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the multi-year budget and financial analysis.
    • Implementation of a streamlined monthly closing process, enabling quicker reporting while maintaining accuracy.
    • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, including comparison to budgets and commentary on variances.
    • Ensure that all activity is captured in a timely manner and recorded in accordance with relevant accounting principles.
    • Complete and maintain the quarterly and annual tax planning analysis and work with the tax accountants on the timely completion of the tax returns.
    • Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting to management for corporate development, marketing and strategic planning.

    Other

    • Assist with the accounting and reporting of the company’s hedge fund entities, including the maintenance of performance calculations and updating presentation materials.
    • Assist with the firm’s SEC compliance obligation, with the goal of transitioning into the CCO role.
    • Assist with special projects undertaken by the COO.

    Requirements:

    • BS/BA in Accounting.
    • Combination of public accounting and private company experience totaling 5+ years.
    • Demonstrated advanced financial modeling capabilities, with excellent command of Excel and other relevant technology tools.
    • Ability to operate successfully in a fast-paced and dynamic entrepreneurial environment.
    • Substantive and recent experience with hedge funds, venture capital and private equity, including working knowledge of partnership accounting and back office operations.
    • SEC compliance experience strongly preferred.
    • CPA preferred.
