  • Responsibilities

    Controller / VP Finance - Huntington Beach, CA

    Provide leadership and manage company finances, accounting department and internal and external reporting. Responsibilities include complex financial forecasting, data analysis and costing in a manufacturing environment with a growing company that is investing in R&D and technology.

    Must have experience ALL of areas below to be considered:

    1. Manufacturing
    2. Cost Accounting
    3. Inventory
    4. Understanding of GAAP
    5. FP&A
    6. Proven leadership skills

    Responsibilities:

    1. LMA (Lead, Manage, Hold Accountable)
      • Participate in Leadership team meetings and activities
      • Lead, manage and hold accountable direct reporting employees
      • Provide quarterly and annual review with Lead people
      • Establish internal work processes for financial department and monitor their progress 
    2. Accounting
      • Oversee accounting operations: GL, A/P, PO, Inventory, A/R, Assets, Intangibles
      • Financial Reports in accordance with GAAP
      • Review payroll data and payroll taxes
      • Maintain a sophisticated system of standard costing within the ERP system
        • Multi-state and federal government employee and tax regulations
        • Accounting and finance procedures with proper segregation of duties
        • Coordinate with external CPAs, tax accountants and auditors
        • Maintain proper company records
        • Establish and maintain banking relationships
        • Negotiate and maintain lines of credit (compliance/covenants)
        • Help management develop budgets
        • Report on budget vs. actuals
    3. Financial Statements / Analysis
    • Accurate projections of cash flow and net income using custom excel based system
    • Recommendations to management to help maintain bank covenant compliance when necessary
    • Assess financial risk
    • Accurate and comprehensive financial statements and analysis
    • Review financial contracts, agreements, and insurance policies

    Experience/Training/Education

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field
    • Master’s degree and/or CPA, CMA preferred
    • 10+ years experience in a senior finance position
    • Financial forecasting, accounting principles and financial analysis
    • A strong background in managerial accounting, inventory control, and product costing
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the propensity to successfully foster new and maintain long-standing business relationships
    • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written; skilled in the art of negotiation
    • Outstanding integrity, solid moral judgment, and the ability to make important decisions under pressure
    • Expert problem solver, analytical thinker, and decision-maker
    • Possess strong leadership skills and business acumen
