    ROARK has partnered with a manufacturing company in Ontario who is looking for an accounting specialist to join their growing team.

    Accounting is an integral part of the team focusing on providing support and managing daily accounting task. Contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department to allow Company to be fully aware of its financial condition. Process accounts payable and receivable transactions. Compute, classify, and record numerical data to keep financial records complete. Perform any combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. Also check the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to business transactions recorded by other workers. Perform a range of routine accounting activities such as maintenance of the general ledger, preparation of various accounting statements and financial reports. Reviews, codes, and verifies transactions and journal entries. Researches and resolves issues and exceptions. Completes simple and complex calculations and assists with trial balances for month end closing.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Maintain Accounts Payable/Receivable records and process payment timely.
    • Prepare check deposits and send electronically.
    • Obtain back-up and post all non-stock invoices for payment.
    • Review posted invoices from purchasing department.
    • Process and issue Credit Memos to customers.
    • Manage petty cash box and issue money for reimbursements when needed.
    • Monitor bank accounts and record deposits in Sage System.
    • Assist with monthly reconciliation of accounts.
    • Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial activities which include petty cash, receivables, and payables.
    • Answer vendor and customer inquiries via phone and email.
    • Assist with collections when necessary.
    • Prepare monthly commissions spreadsheets for check distribution.
    • Report monthly premiums for foreign shipments.
    • Sort and distribute incoming mail.
    • Filing and maintaining organized physical and system records.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Deep understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
    • Proficient with spreadsheets and other software tools.
    • Demonstrate tact, discretion, and confidentiality required of a finance professional with access to highly confidential company employee information.
    • Proficiency in MS Office and other business software and applications.
    • Ability to work comfortably with numbers.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with others.
    • Attention to detail and multitask in a busy environment.
    • Time management skills.
    • Ability to execute multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
    • Perceptive listening skills. Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
    • Train others; promote teamwork, exhibit leadership, creativity, and strong work ethic.

    Physical requirements

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
    • Light to moderate lifting is required up to 10 lbs.
    • Occasional travel to the post office and banks.
