POSITION SUMMARY:
The Family Therapist is responsible for guiding the client’s family throughout the course of treatment. Under the supervision of the Program Director the Family Therapist is responsible for parent orientation, developing discharge plans, conducting process groups and weekly family sessions with ROWI families.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate process, multi-family, community, and psycho-educational groups.
- Contact referral source and outpatient professionals within 24 hours of admission and give progress updates as needed. Document all calls in Best Notes.
- Conduct risk assessments and crisis management with clients.
- Chart each family’s progress throughout the treatment experience.
- Complete all progress and group notes within 24 hours of the session.
- Plan and implement regular quality family programming.
- Complete the discharge plan and fax it to the concurrent provider within 72 hours of discharge.
- Completes transition plan and reviews with family and obtains signature(s).
- Completes Parent Satisfaction Exit Survey with family.
- Begin and end groups, individual, and conjoint sessions in the designated time frame.
- The Family Therapist may provide additional clinical support for other members off the clinical team in their absence.
- Respond to assignments and/or directive from Program Director in appropriate time frames and meet deadlines.
- Communicate with treatment team members in a clear, concise manner.
- Serve as a role model to treatment staff, clients, employees, and guests through a positive, caring, and professional attitude.
- Maintain the confidential nature of clients and related activities.
- Comply with the dress code.
- Complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
- Attend designated staff, training, in-service, and clinical meetings as requested by the Program Director.
- Any additional duties as assigned by the management team.
- All documentation in Best Notes must be submitted within 24 hours.

- Ability to manage time effectively.

- Proficient in basic computer skills.
- Able to maintain clear boundaries with clients and staff.
- Work effectively within an interdisciplinary team environment.
BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Must hold a Master’s degree, preferably degree at the doctorate level, from an accredited or state approved graduate school in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work.
- Licensed as an MFT, Clinical Psychologist, or Clinical Social Worker. Unlicensed clinicians will work with a licensed supervisor.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of related field experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/COMPETENCIES:
- Must have a valid driver’s license and eligibility for insurance with agency’s vehicles.
- Has a working knowledge of Psychopathology, diagnostic assessment, and related treatment interventions.

- Must be able to communicate with people from all educational and cultural backgrounds.
- Must have strong written communication skills.

- Must demonstrate tact, initiative, resourcefulness, professional manner, enthusiasm, and non-judgmental attitude.
- Documents clearly and efficiently.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Must have valid First-Aid & CPR Certification or be willing to obtain.
