    A POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE position is available in the Haricharan lab.

    The Haricharan Lab studies what DNA repair proteins do when they are not repairing DNA. Our primary focus is on the many and varied roles of DNA repair proteins, although our primary disease model is cancer. Model systems used in the lab range from transgenic mice to patient-derived xenografts. Read more about our work in this recent publication from our lab: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34011995/

    The postdoctoral trainee will work on two independent research projects within the Haricharan lab (1) dealing with a role for DNA damage repair proteins in regulating lineage plasticity and metastasis  (2) investigating a role for DNA damage repair pathways in altering the tumor secretome. The work will involve standard molecular biology techniques as well as genotyping and maintaining transgenic mice and conducting a range of in vivo xenograft experiments, as well as routine cell culture experiments. 

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Designing, implementing, analyzing and interpreting data from experiments independently
    • Multi-tasking between projects
    • Working on common tasks within the lab and on collaborative projects where needed
    • Maintaining mouse colonies
    • Writing grant applications for fellowships and writing manuscripts that result from projects

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Ph.D. degree in molecular biology or cancer research
    • Previous Postdoc training is not required

    Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities

    • Expertise with general molecular biology techniques including cloning, PCR, Western blotting, FACS, immunohistochemistry
    • Skill or previous experience handling mice is preferred but not required
    • Experience working with cancer cell lines is required
    • Organization and record keeping are essential abilities
    • Basic understanding of the MS Office suite is required, experience in using Illustrator, R, Photoshop is preferred
    • A background in cancer research is preferred but not required
    • Candidates who are capable of working as a team with collaboration, communication and collegiality are encouraged to apply

  • Qualifications
    1. Assigns employees to workstations on a daily basis, signs off checklists to ensure client instructions are being followed, and uses Info Share to find work instructions and preorder necessary components.   2. Generates Meter 3600s for any mail that is being expedited to the meter.   3. Double verifies product that has been hand stuffed by Finishing Support associates.   4. Assists PCs with workflow from various departments, assisting with finding mail-sort paperwork, tickets, and other applicable production information.   5. Works with PCs to compare what is scheduled and what actually is processed.  Communicate all orders being worked on and orders that are coming on the shift change sheet.   6. Coordinates handling of special/invalid/no-mail/foreign mail pieces and samples by verifying their status and organizing their processing using information obtained from the project's Manufacturing Workbook and Production Log to reduce cycle time and ensure on-time delivery.   7. Trains finishing associates on processes associated with Manual Finishing including mail sort, WBS, ADF, and missing numbers.  8. May include other duties as assigned.
