    7. Have ability to lift, push, and pull medical supplies and equipment of 50 pounds
    8. Assist in keeping the unit stocked with necessary supplies
    9. Have excellent coordination, analyzing, and observational skills to help maintain safety on the unit
    10. Assist in managing patient flow for unit and performing bed coordination and discharge
    11. Monitor and maintain nurse call system for the unit and respond to patients’ call for service
    12. Answer and direct incoming calls and sort and distribute mails/faxes
    13. Greet patients, visitors, and team members entering the unit
    14. Maintain records of medical equipment and ordering supplies
    15. Perform daily rounding of the unit to ensure safety and to communicate with patients to understand and solve their problems
    16. Assist patients in completing registration process when necessary
    17. Enter orders, details of patients, and treatment provided into computer system
    18. Identify and report any pertinent/significant changes in patient condition/mental status to appropriate team members

     

    Required Skills

    The Unit Secretary is a member of the interdisciplinary health care team, serving as receptionist and providing clerical support to all caregivers. The unit secretary supports the direct care duties of care givers through the coordination of MD orders, obtaining supplies, and information and assisting families, visitors, and Physicians.

    WORK SCHEDULE:  Full time 72 hours biweekly; evening shift 3:00pm to 11:00pm; minimal to no weekends.  

    SKILLS REQUIRED: Minimum of High school diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited program required.  

    QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING: Zero to less than 1 year of related work experience.
