    POSITION: SENIOR ENGINEER - PROJECT MANAGER

    LOCATION: LIBERTYVILLE, ILLINOIS

    SALARY: $67,208 – $86,270

     

    Becoming a Project Manager at the Lake County Division of Transportation will allow you to manage capital improvement projects through all three phases of a road construction project for the Division. Your day will consist of managing consultants to ensure project scope, cost and schedules are maintained and you will work with project stakeholders including internal Division staff, other County departments, municipalities, townships, residents, motorists, businesses, review agencies to ensure successful project delivery. You will have endless opportunities to impact and make a difference within Lake County. Being able to build working relationships with employees, 30 countywide departments and the public, is sure to keep you interested and continuously learning.

     

    In order to be successful in this role you should have a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field and a minimum of two years of transportation engineering experience. Possession of a valid State of Illinois driver’s license is required. The possession of an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) license issued by the State of Illinois is required and possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license issued from the State of Illinois is preferred. You should have a thorough understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of civil engineering and IDOT's Phase I and Phase II process for local and federally funded projects. Individuals should have a strong knowledge of the principles of project management; excellent communication skills; the ability to effectively problem solve, collaborate in a team atmosphere and work individually; and conduct tasks in both the office and field environment. Preference will be given to candidates with practical experience in transportation planning, capital programing, preparing intergovernmental agreements, planning studies and long-range transportation plans. You must also be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
