    JOB SUMMARY

    Works within the regulatory reporting process by reviewing accidents/incidents that occur on railroad property, involve Kansas City Southern (KCS) employees, or KCS property. The position collaborates and leads processes to evaluate incidents, determining appropriate accountability. Monitors incident costs, billings, and collections as well as build metrics for audit analysis. The position supports the investigation, handling, and resolution of damage claims while maintaining communication with parties associated with damage claims.

     

    JOB DUTIES

    • Investigates incidents to include coordination with the incident investigation team to confirm information and documentation is obtained to support claims recovery billing.
    • Reviews relevant agreements to determine contractual responsibility for damage costs.
    • Coordinates with relevant departments throughout the damage restoration process to obtain estimated and actual repair costs.
    • Compiles cost by working to compile and calculate the direct and indirect costs and other expenses (e.g. fines, inspections, etc.) to include on the invoice.
    • Determines when to generate invoices, and sends invoices and supporting documentation to the responsible parties for payment.
    • Manages disputes by collecting and providing documentation to address claims that are disputed. Negotiate the final invoice amount if appropriate.
    • Collects, interpret, analyze, and evaluate information associated with triggering events, then compile data for regulatory and/or safety reporting compliance and/or third-party billing.
    • Works with different business units to gather information or provide feedback for the future.
    • Monitors, analyzes, tracks and corrects information related to the claim.
    • Collects past due invoices, negotiates settlements and compile reports of recovered damages.
    • Oversees the tracking & monitoring of safety/regulatory correspondence internally & externally to FRA regulators.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job related major field of study
    • Minimum five (5) years of meaningful professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Strong organization, project management, attention to detail, problem solving, prioritization and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Experience working with Excel and databases to compile and analyze data.

     

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

    • One (1) year of railroad or regulatory experience

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    This position has a regular full-time schedule with a normal workweek of Monday through Friday. There may be a need for occasional work after hours or weekends.

    This position may require minimal travel up to 10% of the time.
