    HOW YOUR ROLE FITS INTO BOLDT:

    The purpose of this position is to provide technical production engineering information and control for field operations. The Senior Project Engineer will help the Lean Production Leader to provide control, metrics and reporting for: Team Leaders, Supervisors, Trade Partners, Customers and other IPDT members. This role will ensure production needs and activities align with all production planning goals. The Sr. PE will also help develop team members to be Last Planner System specialists. In addition, you will help empower and drive the team to a zero-waste environment through detailed process and job instruction creation. Plan, develop, coordinate, and manage preconstruction and construction project activities in support of the project team while encouraging a results-oriented environment and an integrated project mentality.

    This position reports directly to the Project Manager.

    Required Skills

    WHAT YOU GET TO DO

    • Dedicated providing estimating support during the preconstruction/design phase of the project. Assist with quantity take off and pricing. Assist with all tasks that support the development of reliable estimating in the Target Value Design process including, qualifications, score evaluation for the selection of trade partners. Negotiate, prepare, and issue cost critical subcontracts.
    • Provide dedicated technical support for the construction effort including participation in construction planning and design, interpretation of design, application of construction methods, resolution and documentation of design constraints, constructability reviews, agency and permit coordination.
    • Create Construction Execution Plans, Phasing Plans, Construction Communication Plans, Monitoring Plans, Traffic Plans, Logistics Plans and Site Coordination Plans, Procurement Plans, and provide recommendations to the Project Delivery Guide in collaboration with the Project Superintendent, trade partners, inspectors, and client facilities personnel.
    • Facilitate the development, maintenance and updating of project schedules. Provide organizational and technical support for scheduling efforts. The ability to understand and obtain metric driven information from all team members that is crucial to the overall schedule.
    • Possess the ability to become knowledgeable in Lean principles and processes and support the implementation of these principles and processes on the project. Plan and manage pull planning sessions in the support of the last Planner process. Become knowledgeable of the Standard Process and its practice.
    • Understand, manage and facilitate Last Planner processes in order to integrate Lean production principles and processes into the construction project. Manage a Task Force optimal to maintain project achievements and resolve constraints.
    • Understand the process of and has some hands on experience working in a VDC model.
    • Research and resolve drawing interpretation problems, and errors. Review and comment on incremental submittal OSHPD documents for final input prior to formal submittals.
    • Review, analyze and resolve field construction problems or discrepancies.
    • Prepare and disseminate all required documentation such as status reports, instructions describing work to be done, sketches of work already completed, material requirement calculations, etc.
    • Empowered to train and mentor new project engineers on functions and activities.
    • Dedicated to project engineering activities staying in sync with company and contract requirements and support overall construction schedule.
    • Verify that all completed work align with applicable codes, drawings and specifications.
    • Develop, implement and administer project engineering procedures and other work controlling documents.
    • Provide technical support and direction for project material control, procurement activities, cost control, and scheduling as required.
    • Overall, work with the Production Manager, or General Supt for assignments, employee issues, and development within the engineering group.
    • Integrate and collaborate with all members of the Integrated Project Delivery Team as required to resolve problems, ensure quality of construction, etc. in support of overall project schedule, budget, quality and continuous improvement. Must identify a breakdown and pull the and on cord if required.

    Required Experience

    WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:

    Four-year Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural degree or equivalent, plus 3-5 years’ experience/knowledge of construction required past experience on healthcare projects (OSHPD specifically) preferred. Needs to process a strong leadership capability, problem-solving ability, and organizational, communication, presentation, and customer skills, along with a stong ability to prioritize. Also, fundamental knowledge of contract law and project accounting, thorough understanding of all project management control systems (scheduling, cost control, procurement, and estimating), and excellent digital literacy. Ability to perform Project Management Skills Training for Project Team and other Project Engineers.

    Travel 25%.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to position objects and operate tools or controls. Employee frequently uses computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to position self to maneuver in confined or awkward spaces. The employee regularly is required to remain in a stationary position and move to access people or machinery or workspaces. Employee is occasionally required to ascend and/or descend a ladder or stairs to reach work areas. The employee must regularly move up to 10 pounds and occasionally move up to 25 pounds. The employee is regularly required to travel (as vehicle driver and as passenger on various modes of transportation) and frequently performs work on-site at construction work sites. Specific abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee views computer monitor frequently. The employee is required to be able to efficiently communicate while on the job site and throughout the completion of duties.

    The working conditions require the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to maintain safety and prevent exposure to harmful materials. The environment for which this position functions may be exposed to prolonged loud noises and may contain scents and fragrances. May be requested to work overtime and weekends.
