PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The role of the maintenance mechanic is to maintain production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery mechanical and electrical equipment. The maintenance mechanic is responsible for predictive and preventative maintenance on various food processing equipment and associated support equipment. Maintenance is carried out based on manufactures recommendations as well as general industry practices. Mechanic must also follow USDA, OSHA, and GMP practices and guidelines.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on: packaging equipment, Zebra printers, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, metal detectors, Ishida multi-concept weighers, cutting equipment, refrigeration equipment and production machines; following CFF maintenance program, CMMS, diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Diagnose and repair/replace faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, motors, proximity switch timers, photo electric devices, printed circuit boards, PLCs, emitters, and VFDs i.e. AC and DC
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits: 240/480 volt, 120/208/240 volt
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, hand and power tools
- Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, and straightedges.
- Perform minor repairs using MIG and TIG welder as well as plasma cuter and or torch
- Operate forklift pallet jack and Aero lift as necessary to conduct repairs
- Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by signing out all parts and keeping ongoing communication with maintenance manager and assistant.
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepares mechanical maintenance work orders by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information in our CMMS
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs in or CMMS (Manager Plus)
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 3 years industrial maintenance experience required
- High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution
- Must have good theoretical and applied understanding of mechanical and electrical theory, production line control, instrumentation and manufacturing process
- Capable of operating hand, power and specialized tools
- Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) preferred
- Comfortable with computers
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Team player and willing to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Able to work overtime as required
- Advanced technical or college training preferred but not required
- Must be flexible with work hours based on business needs
